Stayed at Pangkor Island Beach Resort - Perak, Malaysia.

the place was great. clear water and white sandy beaches but a lot of jellyfishes nearby the beach which i don't know wheather it is dangerous or not. the most exciting moments are, for the first time in my life i tried jetskiing, snorkeling and kayaking. it was fun and relaxing. about the food, i prefer to order room service because it is cheaper than taking the buffet.

I went to genting highland also...It was a long wait from going there to coming back. I advise people who are going to KL not to visit genting highland on public holiday. Most of the time will be wasted on waiting for transportation to take you there.

Stayed at Miri Marriott Resort and Spa - Miri, Malaysia.
|
Miri is a place with some shopping and some fast food choices. We used our own car and found our way around easily. The Toy World store was nice. Some super markets were smelly and wouldn't let me carry my other shopping through while looking for items. I would be more afraid of their employee stealing my new items than they should be of me stealing food from them. I was insulted. Did not shop in their store.

Excellent location, adjacent to Hard Rock Cafe. A word of caution - I asked the hotel staff for a Registered Massage therapist and was referred to a busines on the Hotel property. This Massage Parlour was not legitimate and only a front for prostitution. Very disappointing. I complained that they should not refer their guests to that location.

Stayed at Renaissance Melaka Hotel - Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia.
|
Melaka is dirty and smelly. This is in both the old and new parts of the town. No metered taxi so you're screwed if you don't know the rates. Everything pretty much shuts down at sunset so you're stuck inside the hotel. Historical sites are not worth my time.

Stayed at Corus hotel Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

We got around by taxi. It was cheap and way more comfortable than the buses. The rail system is still under development and i'm sure that it would be more convenient onc its ready. The chinatown had some cheap bargains although i felt that the quality was rather low.
Be careful to ensure that the taxi driver uses the meter since some were suggesting ridiculous fares for short distances. Don't get conned.

Stayed at Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KL is an interesting place - found walking (where there were sidewalks) and the LRT good ways to get around. KLIA Express train an excellent way to get to and from the airport (MYR 35.00 - 28 minutes) as opposed to a taxi (MYR 80.00 - 1 hour). Taxis in KL generally are a hassle as only a few taxis want to use the meter (which is very inexpensive) and most expect you to bargain for a fixed fare. For example one taxi ride I took was quoted at a flat rate of MYR 30 and on the meter ended up costing MYR 12. One can visit the Butterfly Garden, Bird Park, Orchid Garden and Hibiscus Garden (all in Lake Park) all in one go as there is only a short distance between each. All recommended except the bird park, which is quite large.

Stayed at JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KL is very hot and humid of course, and getting around on foot difficult due to confusing roads, lack of pedestrian crossings, lack of sidewalks in some cases. LRT worked nicely, taxis a drag because they want to negotiate a "meter off" flat rate.

Kuala Lumpur is a big typical city with old and new areas. I loved the transportation. Cheap and efficient. Metered taxi, but some drivers will still try to scam you.
Lots of shopping mall. Not many tourist sites unless you have someone to drive you around. Horrible traffic makes taxi a bit more expensive. It's probably better to walk to Dang Wangi and take the lightrail.

Stayed at Puteri Pan Pacific Hotel Johor Bahru, The - Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

Near the most happening shopping complex :City Square. Must try : Portuguese Chicken & House of Sundanese.
At night, walk out of City Square and cross the road to a busy night market. There's lots of food stalls.
Must try : The fried oyster stall at the end of the stretch of stalls.
Note: Only sit at the table near to the stall that you're patronising. The hawkers are not going to be friendly to you if you use their tables and feast on their neighbour's food.
Note: Never leave your money/loose change on your table unless you're prepared to give it to the beggers. Some can be pretty persistant but it's up to you to decide if you wanna give.
