On Kowloon side I would recommend shopping, and going to the flower market and the bird market (9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.) -- take the #6 bus going north on Nathan St. It's about a 20 min. bus ride.
DO NOT SHOP at "Style Shanghi"! It is a lovely shop on the east side of Kanton St. (same street as hotel) and sells upscale Chinese-style silk garments and accessories. However, when I was purchasing a blouse, they snuck an extra 0 in at the end of the price he quoted me -- in other words, they tried to charge an extra $100 (approx.USA)! Luckily, I caught it before I signed the VISA statement! When I called it to their attention, the salesman loudly exclaimed in front of many other customers "You just too poor to buy something nice!" I requested evidence of a voided sale, and he became even more scornful and insolent! So, if you don't want to be cheated, DO NOT shop there! There are lots of similar shops in the Kowloon area with courteous, honest people.
Also, on Hong Kong island, I recommend taking the tram up to the top of Victoria Peak at NIGHT -- the view of all the high-rise buildings decorated with colored lights all around the bay is breathtaking. There are also many neat shops and restaurants up there. But be aware that the last Star Ferry leaving Hong Kong Island for Kowloon is at 11:30 p.m.! If you have 2 free days, use one to go to Lantau Island to see the Po Lin Monastery and other sites. Consider the fantastic vegetarian lunch in the main building of the monastery (do NOT go to the Garden Cafe - dirty and dumpy) -- there is a regular lunch (about $7 or $8 USA) and the VIP lunch ($12) which was outstanding! It's amazing how the Chinese fashion soy or wheat into "mock" shrimp, pork, etc. that really taste and feel like the real thing! Delicious too! Don't be afraid to order unusual things from restaurant menus -- seaweed, octopus, tofu, almond bean curd, calamari, rice noodles, more kinds of mushrooms that I've ever imagined, all kinds of fish -- all were delicious!
There is another full-day trip (can find organized tour if you want) to the inner part of mainland China. Of course they show you just what they want you to see, and there's lots of propaganda -- but it does provide a thought-provoking look at Communist rule.

If you've been to H.K before and know it, is recommended walking around Kowloon, you miss too much on the bus, and in rush hour it is quicker.
Check out the parks for a breather, they are top, both the park off Nathan Rd (forget it'd name) and HK park in central. A tip to the peak is a must along with a trip on the Starferry to do the HK thing. Recommend shopping around Kowloon, go up the Nathan Rd aswy from the bay and check out the smaller shops - you'll find the best bargains around here. If you are looking for quality goods though, watches, electrical equipment etc... check out the main shops, department stall, may be more expensive but what you buy should be real.

Excellent location. Taking the Airport Express to Hong Kong city was very easy and convenient (HK$90 roundtrip in one day). The taxi bellman scared us into taking a taxi to get to Po Lin Monastery (each was HK$ 155), but on the return we found it just a convenient and time-wise to take buses #S1 (HK$3.50) and #23 (HK$ 16) whjich is much more economical. These options should be addressed by a concierge.

Hong Kong is definetely NOT a bargain shopping attraction anymore. But if you would like to have the biggest choice possible you have to see Hong Kong. If you are interested in fakes - ask for "quality fakes" - some really good things (watches etc.) there. The scenery with the harbour is a "must". Book the hotel with harbour view if possible...

I visited Regal airport hotel as a two day stop over from Bali.I guess after the value and friendliness of Bali everything pales by comparison.Bali is a tough act to follow.
Hong Kong is a very expensive city to me.

Hong Kong is a frustrating place to spend time. The air is bad, there are scam-artists everywhere, the streets are clogged with traffic, pedestrian walkways resemble an ice hockey game with no referee in sight, touts line the streets and incessantly annoy people passing by, most shopkeepers are theives (anyone who still thinks that Hong Kong is a "shoppers paradise" is sadly mistaken) and the prices on just about everything are extortionately HIGH.
If you want to travel to Asia and get treated like a valued customer, then go to Thailand! And if you do end up in Hong Kong then by all means BE CAREFUL. Don't pay deposits for anything, don't accept anything in an un-sealed box and don't pay until your purchase is in your hands! You've been warned!

Enjoyed Hong Kong, and did some good shopping in North Point. The public transport system is second to none. Unfortunately many of the people are very hostile towards tourists, and therefore unhelpful.
