E Barrenechea 29 November 2004
Stayed at  Grand Central Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.
The botanical garden was refreshing as well as the orchidarium. It was nature amidst a bustling city. Since this is my fifth time I visited this garden, Bought some items in Little India and ate at a very nice vegetarian fast food opposite the Mustafa-very clean and nice lentils and dosa! Also went to Chinatown-Maxwell fast food where the fishball soup was okay but not so clean place. Also I went to the Esplanade but was not able to get a seat for the show on More than Music-Deva Preval and miten. Could prob have gotten one on arrival. Missed this rare chance! I am pleased with the polite taxi drivers. One should also see the Cineplex. Orchard road is full of lights at this happy season but things were a little expensive when compared to Manila.

If you're looking for Singapore souvenirs, visit Bugis market opposite Seiyu. It's really Asia-like place even clean Singapore. Fresh fruits are also available. Go through the street, you can find Hakka Centre to eat something, Chinese Temple, and Sim Lim Square. Sim Lim Sq. is a place to buy digital gizmos in lesser price. Behind the building, cross the street, now you are entering Little India. Interesting area and worth visit.

Stayed at  Raffles The Plaza - Singapore, Singapore.
As I mentioned, lived in Singapore for 5 years so just think it's brilliant! So much to do there, give yourself at least 4/5 days in order to experience the food, culture and sights. Highlights for me would be Chinatown, Zoo and Night Safari, touring all the different temples, shopping down Orchard Rd and Raffles City, trying out some of the local Kopitiams (head for ones that are busy with locals), the hotel's Sunday champagne brunches are just excellent - banquets of food with free-flow champagne, East coast seafood centre including Big Splash restaurant, the Japanese food in Singapore is very high quality, the local hawkers are excellent and serve and array of different local foods, high tea at Raffles hotel, view of bay, skyline and boat quay from Equinox restaurant (Swissotel). MRT is excellent way to get around but if more than 2 of you it is just as cheap and sometimes cheaper to grab a cab.

Stayed at  Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort - Singapore, Singapore.
Steward's Riverboat was good, at buffet price, we could sample a lot of different mexican dishes. The Dolphin Lagoon wasn't that good. The dolphins were not as nice (pinkish in colour) to look at as the overseas ones, the show was average and short. And there was nothing else to do at the place.

If you have little ones, the Singapore Zoo is the way to go!! We spent two days there. Be sure to bring a change of clothes as the water play area was always a big success after walk half the day through the park. Elephant ride is a must too!! We pushed a stroller through the zoo, they had wagons to rent and of course you can also take the tram. This was definitely the best zoo we've ever been too.

Stayed at  Rendezvous Singapore, Hotel - Singapore, Singapore.
In Singapore, if you want to eat Chinese foods and Malay foods, I recommend in hawkers centers. If you want to eat Indian foods, you should visit Little India. I think reasonable if you will stay in Singapore hotels rated US$70-120 in asia-hotels.com.

Stayed at  Swissotel The Stamford - Singapore, Singapore.
Singapore is endeed one of the best city in southeast asia. Very accessible means of land transportation. Special mention of their SMRT which was strategically placed in the whole Singapore. The city was a tourist friendly place and you would never be lost with the signs and directions always at your sight. Would recommend going to Sentosa, Singapore Zoo, Science world, Snow City, and their night Safari. Weather was quite humid but a visit in Oct to December is recommended. We had to limit our shopping though because of the high prices compared to other southeast asian countries. Would still recommend visiting Singapore because of the friendly people and their beautiful places of interest. It was an A+ Vacation. Thanks to asia-hotels.com.

Stayed at  Tristar Inn Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
The hotel is not far from the MRT station (if you know your direction to go). Mark your position on the street map and find your way carefully. However, the location of the hotel is not bad at all. There is a flea market / night bazzar just a few yards away. The MRT station is 10 mins walking. Th Sim Lim Square is within a couple of MRT stations.

C Chong 16 October 2004
Stayed at  Meritus Mandarin Singapore - Singapore, Singapore.
There is a new bar at Swissotel - New Asia Bar - Stamford Road. Worth a visit. The bar is on the 70th floor, very cosy, good crowd and the bar overlook the whole Singapore city. We went hopping to Long Bar at Raffles hotel just opposite. Down the road is the Chijmes - at Victoria Street - an old church converted to restaurants and pubs. Went to catch some shows at the Esplanade near Marina. Visited Pasir Ris Park, a bit far out with foodstalls, restaurants and pubs along the beach.

Stayed at  Raffles The Plaza - Singapore, Singapore.
I loved Singapore. The food was amazing, the shopping fantastic and the people were very nice. It's a place that you can probably do in a couple of days. It was very clean and organized which was a switch since I had come from Myanmar. Make sure you see Little India, Chinatown and the Malay area. When I was there they happend to have festivals happening for all of them. The mix of cultures that seem to coexist peacefully is the thing I found most delightful about Singapore. Make sure you have a meal at the Banana Leaf in Little India. Pretty rockin' curry.
