Singapore is a wonderfully easy introduction to the Far East. Clean and sanitized, yes, but safe and friendly. Good varied cuisine, especially if you eat in the food courts - our favourite was one in the Takashimaya store basement in Orchard road. Try to avoid Boat Quay, noisy and drunken, quite unpleasant.

Try money changers in Lucky Plaza shopping centre. Major currencies like USD, Yen and Euro, they offer very competitive rates, about same as interbank.

Visit the new Theatres building, in Riverside Park. Excellent dining and events. The Singapore Airlines "Hop on" bus is excellent if you want to visit several areas of Singapore during a day. Operates regularly through the day over a circular route.

Singapore is a great long weekend destination. The Night Safari is a highlight as is Jurong Bird park. Visit Little India for a lunchtime curry, or Chinatown for dime sum or chicken rice. Boat and Clarke Quays are ok to eat but a bit overpriced for the tourists. I strongly suggest dinner at Newton Circus hawker centre (all taxis know it) for the best food in town - curried stingray is a must as are the tiger prawns.

I was in Singapore for 3 days and I took 2 tours, one was the Jarong bird Park. Which is a must to see. Then I also did the Water Cruise on a Chinese Junket. I enjoyed that by seeing the skyline of Singapore. Also the Night Safari is a must too, it is the only one in the world that is only opened in the evening.
I got to most places by a taxi and the rates were not expensive. I ate most of my meals in the reataurants in the hotel and their evening buffet was fabulous.

My favorite leisure destination. Ride the "Wacky Duck" tour available from SunTec Mall. Taxi's inexpensive, subway goes everywhere as do buses.
