There is a restaurant across the street called Prego that has wonderful salads and pastas at reasonable prices. Get there early, as it's very popular.

The ferry ride from Singapore was approx. 60min and a very causal ride. We were met on the other side by Bintan Lagoon hosts and were taken to the hotel. There is not much else to see on the island. We took a tour of a small village 45min from the resort and the kids enjoyed a view of village living and shopping.

If you are planning day trip to Malaysia from Singapore, I recommend to bring some Malaysian Ringgit cash. Even in JB, border town to Singapore, most shops do not accept Singapore Dollar.

Singapore is a shopping destination. Always great offers in every mall. Great places to go at night is Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. Orchard is also nice for a walk or an al fresco cafe. Spots to have local dishes is Newton Hawker Center (late night), Holland Village and Lau Pa Sat Hawker Center. You must try the Chili Crab!! The local beach is not very nice, but you can take a ferry that will take you to great resorts in Bintan Island, Indonesia. Just check for visa requirements because beginning 2004, Indonesia has changed immigration requirements for many countries. In Bintan one of the nicest resorts is Mayang Sari. Look at a travel agency in S'pore. It is worth it.

This hotel is convenient to ride on MRT and buses. You can walk to sightseeing to Raffles Hotel, Raffles Place and Singapore Art Museum. A post office is near. The cheap and delicious hawker center is placed about 5 minutes by walk.

If you want something else than shopping and you like nature, don't miss the Night Safari, it is a wonderful experience; take the tram and do the walk, while in the first one you can see different kinds of rainforest and hear an explanation, in the second one you can get face to face with giant bats and walk near crocodiles without any risk.

From all the natural, cultural & shopping experiences that Singapore has to offer, if you have a spare night a better idea rather than going to a restaurant is to go to the Night Safari, it is a unique experience. You can walk the trails or take the tram, the recommendation...do both.
