Went to see the Orang-utan at the santuary but none were in evidence.
If you like cats visit the cat museum.
There is a musical water fountain on the river front by the square tower.

First time visit by myself although it is my wife's home city. Much larger than I had imagined.
We took the 1/2 day trip to Damai to visit the Sarawak Cultural Village. Great place if you want all your culture in one easy visit, but can be a little crowded when all the tourist buses arrive at the same time. The village has been open for 10 years now therefore all the buildings have a weathered appearance and look more authentic as opposed to those you see inside museum's.
Getting around was no problem with the local taxis being easy to use, (although I admit my wife's family provided most of the transport!)
The Museum is well worth a visit although the new section telling the story of the "White Rajah's" the Brooke family, won't be open for quite some time yet.
Worth paying 30 cents for the one man operated ferries across the river to go and look at the original Fort and Istana used by the Brookes. Given our pampered air-conditioned luxuries they must have been a pretty tough lot to survive it all.

Kuching is a lovely city and the people who live there are rightly proud of it. Lots to see and do. Interesting market. Visited Bako National Park this was an experience it was very hot and we drank lots of water also visit Semmegogh Orang rehab centre. Local buses are very cheap if a bit of a boneshaker.

Kuching is a very nice place to visit. It is excellent to use as an startpoint for roundtrips to diffrent places in Sarawak. I made some trips during my too short time. It was an trip to Batang Ai and that was very interesting. Especially the trip to the nationalpark. Also trips to Bako and some other places.

The museums in the city are worth visiting, the Chinese museum,
Islamic museum and the sarawak museum. The cat museum is very interesting and the waterfront is a good venue for relaxing and strolls.
Worth to to and enjoy the breeze from the South China Sea. Should visit the Damai Beach, Sarawak Cultural Village and one national park. If possible, try the Loto mee, sarawak laksa and durians!!

Not much to see in Kuching, just use it as an overnight stop to other destinations in Borneo - Balu National Park is worth visiting.
