I would recommend a visit to the Bako National Park, where one can see proboscis monkeys and some spectacular jungle/coastal scenery.

Lovely city, easy to get around and lots of interesting places to visit nearby - had a great trip to Bako National Park and the Orang-Utan rehabilitation centre, both easy to get to on public transport. Good craft and antique shops in the city and everyone seems very friendly. The See Good restaurant serves the best Chinese sea food I've ever had.

Kuching is best place in my visiting. The hotel is nearby riverside and shopping centres. You can soon relax and eat and buy goods.

Kuching is small enough to walk around .. the museum is especially recommended. Good day trips can be made to Sarawak Cultural Visit, and Bako National Park.

Kuching is an interesting little city. No great sights but very pleasant to poke around for a couple of days. I made a trip to Bako national park that was excellent, went to Damai Beach, visited the Sunday Market, took the ferry to the other side of the river. Disappointingly both Fort Margherita and the new wing of the Museum are closed for renovation. Loved the Biryani Cafe for breakfast (roti canai and roti telor both excellent) Food everywhre was fine. I found Denis's Place, despite the rave reviews I had read to be very overpriced. YOu can do much better elsewhere.

It could be a very strategic location for all travellers provided my comments above regarding the outlook is overcome. It might not be safe for travellers to walk back to the hotel using the footlane during night time
Some travellers might prefer this location than other hotels located next to shopping malls/centre of city. It is hoped that public transport (i.e. city bus) is available in Kuching in the near future which would strengthen the destination of Telang Usan Hotel.

The hotel is is placed in one end of the very nice river view walkway. Kuching and the river view walkway is something very special. The hole town is there at evening. Actually Kuching is one of the nicest cities in Malaysia, it has kept the old fachion chinese houses.

Sarawak is a lovely place to visit especially Kuching. I would recommend the restaurant v.near to the Telang Usan Hotel called See Good which does the best fish we have tasted. The best noodles in Kuching is within the open air food market (under cover) 3RM for a good meal. Definately visit the overnight trip to the Longhouse and drink the local rice wine and whiskey
