While we were there we participated in plenty of watersports and took a snorkelling trip around the island which included a 40 minute stop at the main town for shopping. A nice way to see the main island and the exclusive small island Pangkor Laut.
Apparently it isn't all that safe for foreign women to tour solo around the island so this is a better option. The snorkelling was a waste of time. The coral reefs are nothing like those off the islands on the east coast. Bring plenty of suncream.

Highly recommended place for dinner with be the Chinese restaurant 'guo-luo' (in Chinese) my family agreed that the restaurant offer the best food we ever had in our life and it is very economical too. Take the taxi asked them to bring you to Coral bay hotel it is located beside the hotel.

We only had 2 days and the hotel and beach was so nice, we didn't even venture out to see the rest of the island. We hope to do this when we return on our next trip.
The drive from Kuala Lumpur to Lumut is an interesting one. We passed by beautiful kampong houses. The only hassle we found was having to take a ferry to and from the island. You have to put up with some ugly tourists who do not queue, and push their way to get on to the ferry and bus. But we our wonderful holiday more than made up for this minor irritation.

Travelled extensively by car throughout Malaysia, visiting Johor Bahru, Melaka, Kuala Lumpur, Fraser's Hill, Cameron Highlands, Langkawi and Penang. Regrettably the overall standard of discplined driving leaves a great deal to be desired and seemed to me to be the cause of many accidents. I would recommend that only very careful, confident and observant drivers undertake such a trip.

Although there is very little to do or see, the island is beautiful and the surroundings are wonderful. If only there was a very good hotel and some excellent restaurants this would be paradise island.

I find Pangkor a beautiful, unspoilt island and the seafood at some of the local restaurants outside the resort to be recommended.

If you take a taxi from the Pan Pac resort, be sure to arrange a 'round trip', as taxis are hard to come by.

The place were the Pan Pacific Resort is situated on Pulau Pangkor is exquisite! I loved the beach that was cleaned up perfectly every morning, the beautiful Hornbills that came to greet the customers having breakfast (what a choice in food!). I have to be honest, the resort is so beautiful that I did not leave the premises for a whole week.
