Tioman is a beautiful island, with absolutely crystal clear water. The snorkling was incredible - right up there with Hawaii in my eyes.

It's a shame there are no good ikan bakar (grilled fish) restaurants near Berjaya Resort.

I would recommend the chalets to a friend. Don't
confuse the chalets with the appartments. I would definately not stay at the later. Their
location is about 2 miles away with a very poor infrequent over filled mini bus service,
no chance of a cab, they don't exist.

Well, if you're willing to pay for the price and want to be upon expectations as a hotel guest, I don't think paying more for food is a big matter. Or else just go to nearby places where you can get almost the same food but with a decrease in price and also might I say comfort.

Tioman is a beautiful island and the resort is very good located.
Diving is nice but in August visibility is no more than 6 meters.
Very simple but typical and good food restaurants(thai, chinese, grill) and cheap outside the resort reachable by free bus.
Suggestion:offer the possibility to reserve tables at the restaurants not only at 7 pm.

Snorkelling on a variety of sites arranged through the marine centre or from the main jetty Renggis island in clear view from the beach of the resort id only 8MR per person.
Jet ski 150MR half hour this uses a top of the range all power jet for those who wish to be airborn - lower powered ones are available for 120MR

Boat tours range from 'round the island' to trips to coral island (off NW coast) most of these leave at 10 am and return by 3pm (not much snorkelling time on the 'round the island' trip
Hire of a boat to take you anywhere is about 50 MR this can be excellent value - highly recommended

Tioman is outstanding.
The trips to Coral Island were superb.
Boats are plentiful around the island. Used Ferry from Singapaore and sped boat back to Mersing. Will fly in next time via KL.

As a pilot, flying Barjaya Air to the resort was an interesting experience in itself. Once at the resort, the snorkelling, scube diving, and bike rentals were a lot of fun. The resorts pool areas were great for laying out and had restaurants nearby to grab a snack or lunch. At night, there was good food and bars right on the beach to go to after dinner.
