It is worthy to visit-- Payer Marine Park. Clean water, fishes, you can swim with sharks. What an amazing experience!

My trip to Langkawi was a memorable one as it was a honeymoon trip for my husband and I. We stayed at the Casa del Mar and we loved it there. Although it was the rainy season, we tried to squeeze in several activities to do. The Cable Car ride provided a great view to Langkawi. The island hopping package (Tasik Dayang Bunting, Pulau Beras Basah and another island was nothing to shout about though). The beaches were not that clean. It was both sad and maddening to see so many rubbish in the sea.
I would recommend Restaurant Hj Ramly at Pantai Cenang for its Tom Yam - this is where the locals go for cheap and tasty seafood. Another unforgettable place is Bon Ton. Great ambience, great people and great food. Being in Pantai Cenang helped as it was close to everything. We rented a car only on the second last day so that we could go places.

The Waterfalls are well worth seeing. Due to weather conditions we did not get to see as much as we would have hoped but there is always next time. We found a quiet Irish Pub off the beaten path which had a great athmosphere with both tourists and locals visiting. Lan the manager made us feel very welcome. The food and drink was very cheap but of a good quality. The lighthouse restaurant was also very nice. Hotels food and service in Pelangi was excellent although more expensive than eating in some of the small restaurants and bars. But still good value.

Suggest to hire a car on the mainland with a driver. It costs just 25 RMB an hour (approx 6.5 USD / hour) and the people are very good. The entire city is very safe. The places that should be seen are summer palace, cable car, Black sand sea, eagle tower. The shopping is a great experience. It is trade free (tax free). Branded Liquor, cigarettes are available at unbelievably low prices.

I took the Snorkeling tour to Coral Island, but it is better to hire a private boat to go around Langkawi. The water of Coral Island is not as clean as it is advertised and too many people are there. Probably good for beginners.

Langkawi is a very beautiful island, the people there are so friendly and innoccent. Cable Car and Craft-Culture Center are two places you need to visit. Shopping is not as good as we thought, although it's a duty free island. It's more for relaxation than shopping.

I used boat taxis to visit neighbouring Island. Hiring a car for 24 hours to explore the Island is as cheap as Island tours and taxis for 3 hours.

Langkawi is still underdeveloped which is a bonus. If you are wanting a beach holiday without the crowds and loud bars at night, this is most certainly the place. Recommended restaurant is Barn Thai which is in the middle of the mangrove swamp (there's transport there put on by the restaurant) which has very good food. In order to get around the island you need a car which is available to hire from the airport. Remember to bargain for the price! Driving around is easy - it isn't busy and they drive on the same side!

Langkawi is a beautiful island that is fine as long as you do not want to party until late into the night (and I don't!!). Take a drive around the island as it is fascinating, particularly up to the jungle in the north. Little India is an excellent, small and remarkably cheap Indian restaurant which is 5 Ringgits away in a taxi. Also if you have a car, try the Barn Thai Restaurant which has an interesting location.
