Stayed at Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This was our second trip to KL which we like very much as the people are friendly and tolerant. We find other Asian cities like HK and Singapore to be a little fast for us and the shopkeepers very aggressive in their sales pitch. We first took a city tour on a bus which always help familiarise you with a new city and saw all the regular tourist sites. We were very impressed with the express train from the airport into the city in only 28 minutes. We also hired a car to revisit the Kraft Komplex and the Batu Caves - a very enjoyable time. Altogether we like KL very much and the hotel was very comfortable and relaxed.

I went to Bintang walk, KLCC (can walk there as the traffic jam can cause your taxi a bomb and the monorail is expensive), chinatown (can take a bus 60c or 41 from lot 10). Should eat around Ah Loh Street, China town, KLCC 4th floor for cheap and nice food.

Beware of the Indian guys in yellow taxis outside the hotel - they try to charge you 3 time the fee of a normal red/white/black taxi. Go up in the KL Tower, not Petronas. Excellent view and a nice buffet in revolving restaurant. We also went to Kuala Selangor to watch fire flies - quite an experience. Just hooked up with a local taxi/tour guide who also took us to this great Chinese seafood restaurant on the river (River View Restaurant). Best food on the trip! Don't let the taxi drivers tempt you to take a car to KLIA, the Express train is much more comfortable and less scary. Good drinks at L'Opera on Bukit Bintang, close to Planet Hollywood. It's a problem otherwise to get the right proportions in the drinks since they don't seem to like serving alcohol.

The hotel's central location make it an ideal hotel to stay at for business people and for tourists. We found the shopping and the eating places near the hotel perfect for those people wishing to experience what Malaysian cuisines and fashion has to offer. Putrajaya is a must see place along with Petronas Twin Towers. I jogged in the leisure park outside the Twin Towers for my two-day stay. I also believe travel to and from the airport is costly and involved. I believe the hotel has complimentary transport but at no time was i aware of this and feel that the hotel would be better served if it was highlighted in its promotional advertising.

Petronas Towers spectacular--shopping centre attached a mixture of expensive international labels, and good value local product--Isetana department store great range and prices. Chinatown great fun--fakes of every description, with watches, handbags and shoes great buying. Overall, KL a very nice city to visit for a few days

My husband and I then went on to Genting Highlands (three days) and thereafter to Kota Kinabalu (four days). We are afraid that after Micasa, every other accommodation pales in comparison ... You've spoiled us for choice!!! Our itinerary was Auckland/Singapore/Johor Bahru/Kuala Lumpur/Genting Highlands/Kuala Lumpur/Kota Kinabalu/Kuala Lumpur/Johor Bahru/Singapore/Auckland. We left Auckland on Christmas Eve via Air New Zealand flight and reached Changi Singapore Airport at around 7 pm. We decided to try Singapore's efficient MRT system and then catch a bus into Johor Bahru (JB). We were held up at the Singapore Customs Checkpoint which resulted in us missing our bus which was supposed to take us into JB. We ended up braving three flights of stairs (luckily going down and not up!), the tropical heat and mad traffic (public holidays) by walking the whole length of the Causeway, lugging along all our heavy luggage and backpacks!
Once we cleared the Malaysian Customs, we hailed a taxi which cost us Ringgit 20 (un-metered) to take us to our hotel, which was only five minutes away by car. We had to travel a slightly further distance the next day and that only cost us Ringgit 5!!! What an experience for us, one that we would not be in a hurry to repeat in the future. Kota Kinabalu - we have never visited KK in all our travels to Asia and thought it worthwhile to pay this city in East Malaysia a visit. We were very disappointed by the rubbish and stench of the seafront (we stayed in Promenade Hotel) and are considering writing to the local authorities there.

I definitely recommend walking to truly feel the sights and sounds of KL. To my surprise accessing the Golden Triangle is easy with KLCC as the focal point. Even going to PutraJaya was easy, you just need to know the connecting train. It just takes 30 minutes to PutraJaya from KLCC.

If one travels to KL for the purpose of shopping, this is the place. From KLCC to Bukit Bintang, the array of shops and vendors were simply marvellous. Road side stalls together the air-conditioned malls were wonderful arrangements, especially along Bukit Bintang. Keep at least half a day for KLCC and another for Bukit Bintang. Shop and eat should be all you cared for. Nothing else seems important. If you have time to kill, one day each at each venue would have filled your hands with shopping bags and stomach full with delicacies. Avoid though the food street at Bukit Bintang which boasts local food. You can find equally good (if not better) food in restaurants in which most are priced very reasonably.
Chinatown is not quite worth the walk unless one is there for Mont Blanc imitation and the like and are prepared to bargain hard.
On the whole, KL is one place highly interesting and colourful with very courteous people. It is definitely worth going and re-going which I have done.

This time we went to 1 Utama - the biggest shopping centre in Malaysia ( bigger than times square). Pls take the Putra LRT to Perdana Jaya (last station) and take the shuttle bus to 1 Utama. Central Market also recommended to visit, you can find a lot of souvenirs/antique/handicraft over there. Petaling street got a lot of tasty hawker foodstall or restaurant, but a little bit dirty of environment. when you shop in the Petaling street, especially at the night market, remember to negotiate the price before you buy (it will be ok to ask them give you at least 50 % discount for all the goods).
