Half day sight seeing country tour is very essential. It covers some good spots like tea plantations, strawberry farms, rose garden etc. visit to cactus valley is a must. Good jungle walks. If have time and money to spare, waterfall near tapah is good.
Shal's in brinchang is worth at least one meal.

Cameron Highlands are a good part of any trip to Malaysia, but other hotels may be better located to take advantage of the area.

Beautiful location, excellent jungle treKking. Went to all the places of interest locally, which only took 2 days - and then there was nothing to do!! It is not possible to hire a car in the Cameron Highlands so Taxis are the only way to get around. Soon gets boring if you are an active person. Would have been much more enjoyable had we have been told this and we would have hired a car from KL and visited places further afield.

Unfortunately, the area currently resembles a construction site, due to major road building works. Heavy, persistent rain during our visit did not help, leading to mud slides. However, we enjoyed visiting the Boh tea estates, butterfly garden, bee farm and rose centre. Drove to Gunung Brinchang, the highest point on peninsular Malaysia, where the views were absolutely spectacular. (We travelled in a hired car).
I feel that the Cameron Highlands stands in danger of overdevelopment , leading to it's losing the very uniqueness which makes it so special.

If you would like to travel around cameron highlands from this hotel, you would need your own transport.
There do not have any food outlet and places of interest nearby.

Cameron Highlands is certainly worth visiting for it's beautiful views and clean, fresh air. But be sure to take warm clothes with you, as it's much cooler than in the rest of Malaysia. Wear proper shoes for a jungle trek, as the path is often steep and slippery. Robinson Falls littered with rubbish hanging from the trees over the water, the local authority doesn't seem to be bothered by it.

Around the immediate environens of the Lakehouse there is not much you are able to do without access to transport. I hired a car and driver and visited a tea plantation, flower farm and a few other venues known to the driver. ( Did not arrange this through the Lakehouse.) Countryside is MAGNIFICENT.

We loved the highland area. We climbed to the highest point (over 6500ft) and it was very challenging and rewarding. If you're not in physical condition, do not attempt without a guide. The differences between the highlands and KL are worlds apart.
The drive up the mountain took almost 4 hours, so if you're prone to car sickness, be prepared. The scenery was breathtaking. It rained about the same time everyday, but was very refreshing.

Scenic peaceful location but new road into the area will probably lead to more development which will change the location dramatically -probably for the worst as planning in Malaysia does not appear to be a priority.
