As we only spent one day and one night here we wanted to see as much as we could. We reserved two places on a bus tour when we arrived at the ferryport. The tour was operated by Grayline and covered most of Macau's tourist highlights in Macau and Taipa including Macau Tower (10th highest building in the world). The tour cost only HK$98.

Os Gatos has a nice terrace for lunch. Avoid the wine museum. It is very boring.

Well worth to buy the museum pass at $ 25/adult if you plan to visit all the museums around Macau. It is relatively small so you can practically get by hiking, it ends up in a circular route except Taipa and Coloane. And the goods are definitely cheaper than in Hong Kong. Overall, the hotels are better and cheaper.

You can actually walk to museum of macau from the hotel. Take note of the events that take place at the Largo de Senando, which is nearby.

Overall the food, shopping and tourist attractions were cheap and great. I would love to visit there again but pass the Lisboa Casino. Never expect it to be of no standard! From the outside it's so grand but inside really let me down (not because of betting which I did not) it's due to the surroundings, people/staff's attitude.

If you enjoy Portugese history and architecture then you will enjoy Macau. The new Turbojet between Macau and Hong Kong International Airport means that you don't have to travel to downtown HK when departing HK from Macau, which I found very convenient.

Holiday Inn Macau is very good place to stay in Macau. During the Grand Prix, hotel rate was very expensive but good location. You can walk around to center of Macau. I stayed there during 50th Macau F3 Grand Prix. I always take shuttle bus between hotel and ferry terminal. But the bus didn't arrive on time always.

We simply love Macau and visit it as often as we can. There are so many interesting places to see with great shops and restaurants. Here are a few places we visit every time we are in Macau: Best Portugese Restaurant: Fernando's (Hac Sa Beach, Coloane Village) Best pastries and cakes: Mandarin Oriental Hotel Best sandwiches: Angela's at New Yaohan.

There are lots of things to do in Macau besides gamble. This time we went to Colohane, one of the outlying islands, easily reached by public bus from Macau city. Walking trails, hills to climb, a very picturesque village to stroll through and explore, it was a day trip well worth taking. Platao was a very good choice for Portuguese/Macanese food, recommended by the hotel. Good location near the Largo Senado downtown. Great area to stroll, near old Macau streets leading up to the Fortress and the Museum (a must see/do). Lots of antique shops in the old section, but that they are real bargains is doubtful. New furniture in the old style is also popular. Nice pieces. Interesting to window-shop. Lots to buy if you don't care about whether it's a real antique or a good buy.

I have visited Macau a number of times and have always found it a delight. There is not a lot to see but enough for a couple of days of sight seeing and shopping (or gambling if you have that vice). Plus it has the famous "Fernandos" restaurant on Colonege Island. A must try place (the full plate of chilli prawns are the best).
