The hotel is located on Yangshuo's main street, Xi Jie, just a few minutes walk from the bus station, The minibus from Guilin Railway Station to Yangshuo is great value at just Y10 per person. Yangshuo has many great Western-friendly restaurants, many of which have free internet access, and recommended ones include Jimmy's and Minnie Mao's.

Stayed at Crowne Plaza Beijing - Beijing, China.

December is bitterly cold time to visit Beijing, they say Fall is the best season to visit. Of all the major attractions I visited, the Summer Palace stand out. The food in Beijing is better than most places I visited in China, especially the Han Kejia Restaurant at the Back Lakes near the Bei Hai Park.

To visit the Spendid China or Window of the World take Bus No 223, you have to cross the road (Shennen Ave), use the subway about 50 yards to the left of the hotel (fare approx 4 HKD/person). All local transport accept HKD. Except at Lo Wu station all shopping malls accept credit cards but not HKD.

Stayed at Shangri-La Golden Flower Hotel Xian - Xian, China.

Xian, located at the bottom of the valley can be very cold weather with grey skies during the winter. Fortunately little wind to roam about. The Terracotta warrior visit is only a couple hours's drive and the National Museum has more exhibits than Beijing. Though an English guide can be pricey -- relatively speaking to other expenses -- a very strong recommendation. If on holiday, a 3 day visit would suffice to go through most attractions on a leisurely pace. Recommend trying the Xian-style Hot Pot.

Stayed at Beijing New Century Hotel - Beijing, China.

Being near to the Ice-skating Rink (at Capital Gymnasium) is an added advantage during the recent international Ice-Skating Grand Prix Finals. We will definitely come back to this Hotel again when we return for more Ice-skating events in Beijing. Cheers!

Stayed at Sunshine Hotel, Shenzhen - Shenzhen, China.

The Ding Tai Feng (dim sum restaurant-named 1997 Time magazine New York's top 10 restaurants in the world) in Shenzhen is tucked away at a corner in Dong Men- the shopping district in shenzhen town, away from the congested but great shopping at Luo Hu Railway complex. Ding Tai Feng here is at an absolutely reasonable cost. What a find! What a thrill! Authentic xiao long baos. The red bean paste xiao long bao as a dessert is a must try.

Stayed at Jianguo Hotel Xian - Xian, China.

I found Xian to be very nice to visit. I particularly liked the Bell Tower and the music program. It's easy to get around if you have the right map (in english - I never found one....) and the buses are great value at one Yuan a trip. Of course the Terra Cotta Warriors is a must, but for myself, I enjoyed the Big Wild Goose Pagoda equally as well, if no other reason than for the incredible carvings. The taxi rank at the train station was the worst I have encountered for chaos. I finally walked from there to the hotel just to get away from the hawkers. I did not have time, but I would have liked to have spent some time on the city walls, and at the History Museum. Be careful in restaurants. Most have great food, but few english menus, and even when I found one that did, and ordered chicken, I got what I think was eel, but could not convince the waitress it was not chicken. Bring a phrase book!!
