Stayed at Sofitel Hyland Hotel Shanghai - Shanghai, China.
Restaurants: M on the Bund is highly overrated. An excellent choice for Thai food is the beautiful Lan Na Thai at the RuiJin Guest House. Shanghai Museum is a must especially the bronze collection. Easy to get around by taxi. Do not recommend subway.

Stayed at Pacific Hotel - Shanghai, China.

Pearl's TV Towers, went on a Friday morning at about 10am. We were lucky not to encounter the massive crowd and the queue is very smooth which we heard not to visit the place during weekends. The museum just at the basement must not miss. Went to Nanjing Lu shopping mall for a walk. Is just like finding wally in the crowd. Xingyang market, must visit early in the morning as it gets very crowded in the late morning and early afternoon and you must really really bargain. Depend on how good is your bargaining skill, you can get 80-200% off the price. Watch out for colour runs on that 'North Face' jackets or any other brands and also make sure there is no 2 'Brand's' sticking on that 'branded' t-shirt you are buying.

Stayed at Guang Shen Hotel - Shenzhen, China.
Guang Shen hotel is located in the middle of the shopping area. Dong Men Road is just 300m from the hotel and you can find a whole stretch of fashion goods from clothing to shoes. Depending on the season, you could get good bargain for those "outdated" clothing. Meaning you get good bargain for winter clothing from start of spring and vice versa.

Stayed at Harmony Hotel - Beijing, China.
My favorite breakfast (and anytime snack) spot: a tiny Hangzhou style dumpling place just to the left (north) of hotel parking lot when you exit hotel front door. You can't miss it -- a small stack of inviting bamboo steamers sit right outside this minuscule slit of a shop (only 3 tables). Two women (sometimes an additional man) would make dumplings, noodles, soup, & serve -- all very friendly though language could be a problem. Just point!! During 5-night stay at the Harmony, we visited this tiny piece of heaven 7 times! Very cheap too.

Stayed at Shangri-La Hotel Hangzhou - Hangzhou, China.
This was my 3rd time in Hangzhou. Found it the best this time with all the construction works around the lake finally (mostly?) finished. No doubt HZ is a pretty place and we will definitely go back again. Had lunch at Lou Wai Lou (opposite our hotel) which was OK but not fantastic. Dinner at Jade Crystal, a restaurant located at Xihu Xintiendi, which is a new and must-see area for visitors.
Recommend to shop at the state-owned silk museum/factory for upmarket scarves, blouse, quilt, etc, while cheap scarves, pajamas, underwear, etc can be found in Silk Street, which is only 15 minutes away by taxi from Shangri-La Hotel.

Stayed at Grand Bay View Zhuhai - Zhuhai, China.
Zhuhai is a lovely place with good golf courses. In particular the Chung Shan Hot Spring Golf Club is an interesting one. It was the first Golf Club built after the Mao era, & it was not built by machinery but by shovels!

Stayed at Baiyun International Airport Hotel - Guangzhou, China.
Didn't spend much time in Guangzhou, but I have to say that the new airport there is a stunning, sprawling example of architecture. The design although immense is laid out well, and the service was very good. Like most huge airport facilities you don't want to be walking challenged. While in China this time I had great memorable experiences. Spent much of my time in Guangxi Province, in and around Nanjing, Guilin, Yanqian, Yangmei, and other spots. These places are interesting, the people are fantastic, and the variety of activities were fulfilling.

Stayed at New Harbour Serviced Apartments - Shanghai, China.
The apartments were great location to the performance hall and local shopping. We really enjoyed the light lunch fare at a local coffee and tea shop behind the local mall. We enjoyed the jazz show at the Peace hotel, a must see evening. My husband and sons would enjoy the kite flying along the Bund. The harbor cruise and dinner in the TV Tower made for a pleasant, get your bearings evening when we arrrived. The Yu Yuan gardens were close to the hotel as was the Nanjing shopping area.

Stayed at Zhao An Hotel - Shanghai, China.
Xiangyan lu is a good bargain for people who are generally interested in buying counterfeit goods. Do not book the day tour package (to HanZhou) from the hotel, as the coach bus is in a very very bad condition. And the knowledge of the hotel staff about the package is very limited.

Stayed at Ramada Dalian - Dalian, China.
My first night it a Chinese hotel was indeed memorable. As I had forgotten my passport, I had to return to Jinshitan (60 kilometers away to retrive it. I caught the last train home and had to hire a taxi to get me back to Dalian. It was an extremely humous experience as the driver had never never been to Dalian, I spoke little Chinese and he spoke litle English. A trip that should have taken 45 minutes became a 2 hour ordeal. Going through red lights, cutting off semi-trailer trucks and veering at the last second onto exit ramps were just a few of the many exciting experiences that evening.
