I walked around the area. Great shopping and all the restaurants were good if expensive. I especially thought Miss Maud's was good value for the money...try the buffet! Many shops, good value on hiking boots.

Landscape is unusual and great. However, if you have been to Monument Valley, Zion and Brice National Park in U.S., I'd recommend that you pick another national park in Australia. The landscape a combination of the three U.S. National Parks.

I would definitelly do all the sightseeing, walking. I think it's the best way to see all. It worth also to take the Ferry to Manly because you can navigate through the harbour and also the beaches there are good.
Taronga Zoo is very nice, it also has koalas to see, take some pictures.
The tower is very nice, you can take superb pictures from there in a clear day.

For people who like History, be sure to travel to The Rocks. There is a lot of history in Sydney and The Rocks is where most of it starts. Plus, there are a lot of shops too. If you plan on using the transit system a lot, then you should buy a day pass. The cost is AUS $15. and day and you can use it for busses, light rail trains, and ferries.

Brisbane is a very compact city and everything is within walking distance. Queen Street Mall is the place to go for shopping. The only downside is that shops close too early.

We stayed a week and walked all over the city, using the excellent trains, buses, ferries and monorail to speed up the process of getting around when needed. The day trip to the Blue Mountains with Andersons Tours is a must do, and the dinner and opera at the Opera House was the highlight of our stay.

Rented a car. It was expensive but loved the flexibility and freedom. Roads are very good so if you plan only Uluru and Olgas no need for extra liability coverage on car.

For wildflowers in early spring go north. The southern route didn't have many in early September. Albany was a very interesting city to visit, Margaret River less so in our opinion.

We took two tours - - Kata Tjuta for sunset and dinner and Anjanu for sunrise at Uluru and Aborigine talk/walk. Both were excellent. The sunset and sunrise were spectacular! The timing meant that the air was very cold for the dinner, so unfortunately we couldn't enjoy it quite as much as we'd have otherwise. The Anjanu tour was all we'd hoped for except we would have like to have spent more time in the visitors' center where we ate breakfast!
