If staying here and hiring a car to visit the Melbourne city centre, beware of the Citylink motorway through the city centre. This seems to have been set up for residents, regular visitors and those in the know. It involves a prepaid fee, which can be paid or topped up at any Shell garage by credit card. But there are no toll pay stations, and a hefty fine will result if you use the Citylink without paying. A picture is taken of your vehicle reg when passing under a gantry, and action taken from there if the reg is not recognised.

Although not on top of airport as expected but transport available at any time. Was perfect for us to meet up with family and friends.

Airport is about 20 minutes by car. Melbourne is a great place to visit.

The Casino in Brisbane is great value for a variety and types of meals for travellers and is very close to all the top Hotels in the centre of the city.

Destination was just a tranist point to main holiday destination. Needed an easy acess to airport. The hotel did provide a long term car park and drop off and pickup service to the airport.

We didn't spend a lot of time in Melbourne itself. We found the train very easy to travel on. Downtown shopping was good. So many places to see. Make sure to leave a lot of time to get through the airport for international flights. It took us just over 2 hours to check in at the United counter. They were randomly checking bags. Then another hour or so to go through customs and security. We arrived at the airport 3 hours in advance, and made it to our plane just in time for boarding--No time for duty-free shopping.
