Buenos Aires is a magnificent city to visit any time in the year. There are so many interesting places to visit and the food is just one of the best in the world with very low prices. The people very friendly and you can find excellent places to enjoy Tango and many shopping centers.

Great museums Malba and Bellas Artes, good theatres and alternative ones. Villa Villa at Centro Cultural Recoleta I recommend "La Guarda-Girando"...Walk and walk.

Stayed at  Cristoforo Colombo - Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The city tour is available for 20 Pesos or at the time of writing, equivalent to $7 USD. Florida St is a walking mall and there are many shops. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city with friendly people who were very helpful to me in spite of my limited Spanish. At today's bargain prices, it is a definite recommendation. It is a city much like those found in Europe with a good highway system. Rental cars are reported to be expensive but taxi quite the opposite.

Stayed at  Loi Suites Recoleta - Buenos Aires, Argentina.
I would highly recommend checking out the collection of works at the Museum of Fine Arts.

Argentina is a fabulous travel destination with a better tourist infrastructure than neighboring Brazil and Chile. Bariloche and Iguazu are a must. In Iguazu stay at the Sheraton Hotel within the Park, 2 days is more than enough to see the falls. In Bariloche make sure to rent a car and get out into the wilds of the lake district. The views are breathtaking! Bariloche itself is only the gateway to the surrounding area and not much as a destination unto itself.

The currency crisis has made food ridiculously cheap though gasoline, car rental and other imported hard-currency items will be at normal prices. If you expect to consume any imported items, in my case cigars and nuts, be aware that they cost much more than in US - Europe due to import taxes. It was a very unpleasant surprise to find that the cost of my cigar after dinner cost more than the entire dinner with wine!

Have fun!

BA is fabulous, and with the dollar soaring at around 3 to 1 a great deal. The best restaurant in town will run you around $50 with wine and you will eat like a king.

Stayed at  Marriott Plaza - Buenos Aires, Argentina.
We enjoyed the La Boca area, went to Igauzu Falls and the Mendosa areas which we enjoyed. Our favorite restrurant was in Mendoza the Francis Mallman Rest.

J Miller 24 November 2002
Stayed at  Golden Tulip Savoy - Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Hotel near the constitution bldg and a relatively easy walk to many of the places of interest in the city. City was a place of many contrasts and although going through tough economic times it still had a vibrancy about it. The architecture was incredible in the older sections - newer leaves a bit to be desired. Wealth and poverty seemed to co-exist.
