Stayed at Pelangi Beach & Spa Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.
|
The Pelangi Beach is not near the main town. However a short walk from the hotel are beachside/roadside restaurants. Although some of them look a bit basic the food was good and half the hotel price. We particularly liked the Sun Bay Restaurant.
If you like walking you could walk to the Aquarium from the hotel which was only five minutes by taxi. Anything else requires a taxi or car to get to. It is best to hire a car for a day or two and you can cover the whole island at your leisure. A taxi would have to wait for you at your cost!
We thought the beach at Tanjung Rhu. in the North East was the best. The trip down the river to the bat cave was also a worthwhile experience if you go to the other caves as well and out into the river estuary with the mangroves each side. You haven't a clue where they are taking you but they brought us back!!
The Craft and Cultural Centre also has a wide variety of local handicrafts all very reasonably priced by UK standards. Its all easy to do yourself and being an island there is not much traffic to worry about.
