Miri is the nearest town in East Malaysia bordering Brunei Darussalam. From Miri town, travellers can go to oil-riched Brunei by road in less than 30 minutes. Places for shopping - Imperial Mall and Boulevard Mall.

Miri offers balance itinerary for those who wants to have a bit of everything that this Borneo site offer. A good drive to Niah cave follow by a dip in Lambir Waterfall should pretty much cober the eco-tourism part. After which, shopping in the town and dine in its hotel restaurant balance the urban side. I recommend shopping for traditional artifacts which really makes a good souvenirs and decoration for our home. I myself bought an infant carrier which was handmade by the Iban tribe. It costs only RM180 which is about $85 S'pore dollar.people are friendly but still must be wary when enjoying oneself in their disco.

Miri is a place with some shopping and some fast food choices. We used our own car and found our way around easily. The Toy World store was nice. Some super markets were smelly and wouldn't let me carry my other shopping through while looking for items. I would be more afraid of their employee stealing my new items than they should be of me stealing food from them. I was insulted. Did not shop in their store.

We enjoy Miri because it offers shopping and restaurants. The hotel bars vary in the number of guests they attract! We enjoyed a meal at the chinese restaurant opposite the hotel - good value and delicious food. The crocodile farm was interesting if not a little sad!

Miri is a busy and lively town. Shopping is quite good. Most places sell the same sort of thing! Plenty of good places to eat, such as the seafood restaurant the Apollo, this was excellent. Do not be put off by its appearance!
