Nature's Batik Village and PasarPayang in Terengannu are interesting places for shopping. I like the good attitude of Batik Village staff which allows apparels purchased be returned in exchange of size etc.

There aren't many restaurants within the walking distance of the resort. You need to go to Pantai Cherating (Cherating Village) for more eating options. Thursday night market in the town of Chukai (about 15 minutes' drive from Cherating) offers a good opportunity to sample delicious local food at minimum prices.

The East Coast of Malaysia is BEAUTIFUL.
Impiana is easy to get to - from Kuantan, a taxi costs MR40 and takes 45 minutes, a local bus costs MR3.00 and takes 1.5 hours. The local bus is also convenient for day trips up and down the coast to Kuantan or Kemaman the nearest big towns - excellent if you want to immerse yourself in local culture, shop for food and handicrafts, other beaches, (Cherating Village is quite a fun place to visit just about 10 minutes bus ride from Impiana. It has great local food, beach bars that party into the night in high tourist season, lots of firendly people and an internet cafe)
Impaina organises trips to night markets as well.

The hotel offers tours into the vicinity like a river tour, visisting a nightmarket etc. It will be however a great advantage, if you are independent and have your own transport. Pantai Cherating or "Cherating Beach" is just about 5 km down the road. The little village is full of shops (some of which provide batic courses), restaurants and little pubs catering to all levels of patrons. Tour operators and Internet providers are also located there. Between the Impiana hotel and Pantai Cherating is a turtle sanctuary. Night tours for turtle watching are available. Other spots of interest are the Panching caves and the Sungai Pantan waterfalls near Kuantan.
