I took 2 girlfriends up to Shenzhen which is :45 by train up into China for shopping. They have shopped the world, but were extra impressed with the cheap prices, wonderful selection of fabrics, tailoring & other things to buy.
HKG good restaurants:
Fat Angelos in SoHo. Great family style Italian just 10 minute walk from Bishop Lei Hotel.
Tango Martini in Wan Chai: great ambience and food excellent.

Hong Kong is fantastic. Went shopping in Stanley but didn't find any deals, however, the bus ride out there is worth the views! If you are looking for shopping, Wan Chai is actually pretty good. Easiest way to get around is definitely by MTR.

Hong Kong is a very frantic place, the number of people on the streets can become overwhelming at times. So I found solace from time to time in a cold beer at Mad Dogs Pub on Hong Kong and Murphys pub in Kowloon.
Not the shoppers paradise that some make it out to be - even with local knowledge and hard bargaining. Best to know in advance what you're looking for and the price in your home location. In general there are savings to be made but that has to be balanced against making sure its the genuine article and if the warranty is good in your country.

We went to the horse racing at Sha Tin which was a fantastic say out - it was only £4 entrance to the members enclosure & they were so helpful. The "Peak Lookout" restaurant at Victoria Peak was fabulous. Macau was not really worth a visit but Lantau island was great - excellent restaurants & great for a quiet evening away from the hubbub of Hong Kong, not a skyscraper in sight. Temple Street market was great for fake designer handbags.

Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance - spoiled for choice. With Hong Kong prices down as the economy suffers there are even bargains now to be had by the avid non-shopper!

Cat Street, flea market is highly recommended. You can find many items, which you never see anywhere.

The hotel is about 7 minutes away from the MTR stations. The major bus lines are within a block. Hong Kong is one of the most tourist-friendly places I have ever visited. The maps provided at the airport are quite extensive, and give an effective layout of the public transportation system. The MTR itself is pretty easy to grasp.
The Night Market in Jordan or the Ladies Market in Mongkok is an interesting shopping experience. Lan Kwai Fong is also an nice place to be on a Friday night.

The night markets (Temple Street Market and Ladies Market) are our favorite spots. Don't give them a miss.

Only a short walk to SoHo, Lan Kwai Fong, and great shopping. Free shuttle bus runs frequently to Central but why wait. City bus stop is directly in front of hotel and will take you anywhere in HK. I love this city and will be returning frequently.
