Make sure to get a rental car at the airport, they're the cheapest you'll find on the island, and make sure you haggle the price. Go on the cable car ride the view is stunning, drop by Galeria Perdana and spend at least half an hour there, don’t miss the waterfall. Try out the local dishes, you’ll be marvelled. If you have the time, try to visit all the other beaches, then you’ll really come to appreciate the beach on your door step.

Had great fun going to Pulau Payar, a marine park where you can go snorkelling and diving. Guide didn't tell us the diving was better near the floating platform, we heard someone mention it just as we left. The guides don't mention
that the 7 wells waterfall is 300m up a steep hill. I had to carry my 2 year old up and down on my back.

Langkawi is a lovely and peaceful island. It is easy and reasonably cheap to get around by taxi. Langkawi Crystal is worth a visit, the Craft Complex was disappointing.

The snake sanctuary opposite the resort will only occupy 20 minutes, as it has suffered a lack of investment, but is ok.
The main restaurant appeared deserted, but the Malay style breakfast area and the bistro/fun-pub were fine. Food was varied enough and of high quality. We also enjoyed being the only guests in the bistro/pool area.

The beach at Casa del Mar is only ok. The Datai beach is still the best but not open to public. Try the Tanjung Rhu beach, which is probably the most spectacular public beach. Car rentals start from RMB40 and don't take up the offers from Kuala Kedah or Perlis side, but haggle on the island itself.

Langkawi was beautiful but, unfortunately, a day or two after we arrived, the rainy season began and it poured down every day. Apparently, the best time to go is between December and April. There is a holistic spa in a hotel beside the snake sanctuary which offers reasonable value afternoon packages so we indulged in an afternoon's pampering on one of the rainy days, which was lovely.
The Datai Beach is noted on the tourist maps as a sight to see but it is not open to the public and belongs to the two posh hotels in the area. However, they very kindly took us down for a look and it was something else.

The location (beach) of the hotel is superb. Langkawi is a beautiful island with some possibilities for trips (rice fields, villages, rainforest, waterfalls, island hopping). One can easily rent a car, but it is not easy to arrange a motorbike in the neighbourhood of the hotel. There are sufficient sporting activities and tours via the hotel. For restaurants, you fully depend on the hotel! The quality of the food was generally ok and I especially liked the atmosphere of the beach fronted restaurant (mediterranean style). Note that in September and October, the weather is more rainy on Langkawi, though there is no clear raining season.

There was not many attractions on the island and the only attractive thing was on the snorkelling trip on Pulau Payar island.

My first trip to Langkawi was about 7 years ago. Now, there are some new buildings, especially in Kuah town, but nothing much has happened. The Underwater world was really very disappointing. For the fee paid we expected to see some or at least one life show. In my opinion, besides the shopping, Langkawi has still not much to offer.

Island hopping along with eagle feeding, fishing, cat fish massage at dayang bunting is excellent..bat cave was bad cuz there was no bats around..if u r going in the package available with the hotels then it is recommended to carry some food along..they dont supply good food..spend more time in the beach is fun..and u get execellent vegeterian food close to the hotel..(pakistani restaurant) under water world is not really exciting as we expected it to be..and laman padi museum is good to watch and is only good for ppl who are interested in garden and food crops.
