The Cameron Highlands is a great place to visit - wonderfully cool weather - lots to do and very good food. We rented a car and drove ourselves.

Interesting destination although two days is enough. Scenery is spectacular, a four-wheel drive would be better for some of the more distant locations eg. Blue Valley tea estate. Attractions over stated in the brochures. The butterfly farm was particularly disappointing most of the exhibits were corpses (unintentional). The only Tea Estate open to visitors is closed on a Monday and not always manufacturing on other days of the week, if this is important it is worth checking.

The ride up here is amazing: two hours of hairpin bends through the rainforest with steep gullies under almost every bend. The road is well maintained for the most part but some inside corners are eroding alarmingly. We did the journey down in a public bus which was an experience not to be missed!
There are some interesting and amusing places to visit all of which can be reached by regular tours bookable from the hotel or from the office in the main street. The tea plantations are all around and the conducted tour round the factory is good. Each tour has about 8 stops of varying value but itis a worthwhile half day out.
There is a good choice of eateries in Tanah Rata and a survey of their menus will almost certainly produce something to suit most palates. There is also a choice if internet facilities and banks.
The ride up to Gunung Brinchang, the highest accessible point on peninsula Malaysia is well worth doing as the views are superb, but choose a day when there's not too much cloud on the hills. We didn't and couldn't see a thing when we got there, but the taxi driver was still qiuite pleased to take his fare!
There is enough to see and do here for a couple of days but probably not much more unless you enjoy the pleasure of hill walking.

Tanah Rata is a lovely town and the temperature is very cool after the heat of KL.
Plenty of good restaurants and laundry close by.
Excellent walks in the area but not very well signposted.
Good tea plantation tours which are very interesting, which should be taken in the morning as that is when the tea is picked.

the destination is very long journey. Before driving up do eat make yourself full. You will vomit when driving up the hill if you have empty stomach. Wind down your cars windows you will feel much batter.
So be prepare oils ,plastics (for vomiting) sweets especially toddlers make them sleep before driving up. Visiting the farm there are very cool if you are a plantation lovers.
Do not miss the Pasar Malam they are very cheap.

Cameron is more of a place where you can go & relax. If you are interested in just sightseeing, you have chosen the wrong place.

Half day sight seeing country tour is very essential. It covers some good spots like tea plantations, strawberry farms, rose garden etc. visit to cactus valley is a must. Good jungle walks. If have time and money to spare, waterfall near tapah is good.
Shal's in brinchang is worth at least one meal.
