Stayed at City Bayview Langkawi - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Renting a car is easily available as we did rented our locally made car "Iswara" ad drove around Langkawi.
Places visited were the Water Falls, the Hot Spring Village and I must say the Kedah State Govt should do something to maintain these places in order to attract more tourist as noticed these places are very dry.
Beaches visited are located at the Tanjung Rhu, Awana Porto Malai, The Andaman Datai.
Recommended beaches and hotel to stay is The Andaman Datai which have all the range of facilities like swimming pool, clean beach, saunna, jacuzzi, restaurants and ballrooms for meetings and etc.

The location is 30 minites off from center and
we have to depend on taxi to go every where.
(If you seek the quiteness, it is very good.)
Next to the hotel, there is very nice Malay restaurant which is called Sun Village.

Rented a car at Kuah Jetty for 50 ringgit a day. Need to negotiate properly if not the operator will charge very high for delays.

Great part of the island as it is a short taxi ride to airport- didn't hear the planes once during our stay. Good eating estabilishments near by- try Moody's for breakfast where you get great and cheap food with excellent service and conversation.

Langkawi is a beautiful place to visit. The best way to move around is by hiring a car. There are a number of places to visit which are very easy to get to. Maps and other information is easily and readily available.

Langkawi is generally unspoilt and well worth a visit. Many local legends provide you with visiting opportunities and cultural change. Food provisions are readily available, esp local fare. Island hopping is also easy and cheap.

Langkawi island is a very quiet place. If you want to go out and party there is one cool bar, cocojam. I would recommend renting a car or jeep and touring the island, it doesn't take long, but there are some cool things to see. The water is very warm, but not as clear as I expected.

Stayed at Kampung Tok Senik Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Langkawi offers the visitor a real taste of laid-back rural Malaysia as well as beautiful beaches and stunning coastal scenery. Getting around is easy - the Kg. Tok Senik staff are happy to arrange taxis and there are also a number of in-house options including a minivan, a 'limo' and the only London taxi on the island!
We took a taxi to Pantai Cenang and spent a relaxing day on the beach, although we could have opted for various activities such as jet-skiing, paragliding or island-hopping if we had felt the need to be more active.
On our last full day we hired a Kancil and explored the rest of the island. First we went north and took a stroll along the beach at Tanjung Rhu, then west to check out the facilities at The Datai, finally heading 'home' via Burau Bay in the south. Later that evening we drove to the Casa del Mar at Pantai Cenang for dinner on the terrace overlooking the beach. The food, described as 'Western/Japanese fusion', was of a high standard, the service was fast and efficient and I had a very enjoyable meal in a picturesque setting.
As our flight was scheduled for late afternoon the next day, we requested and were readily granted a late checkout at no extra charge, so we extended our car hire and drove to the main town, Kuah. Unfortunately it was raining so we spent most of our time there in the shopping centre, but were pleasantly surprised to find a good selection of quality handicrafts which were a definite cut above the usual 'tourist tat'one often finds in such places.
All in all we enjoyed our trip and Langkawi is a place I am sure we will visit again.
