City tour (1/2 day) very informative. Batu Caves are OK, but if you've been to India and seem the real thing, then this won't phase you at all. Daytrip to Melacca was good. Line for Petronas tickets was outrageous, go to Menera (KL tower) instead, which is in Bukit Nanas park...it is a bit of a walk uphill, you can take a taxi if you like. You get a better view than from Petronas. Chinatown Petaling street was hectic...only visit there if you are serious about shopping imitation stuff. For food, walk around Jalan Sultan..for some cheap stuff (or Jalan Alor, if you are in Golden Triangle area). The walk on Jalan Pudu from Chinatown to Bukit Bintang was interesting, it goes past the large bus station, but what is better is that you get a real cross section of homey Kuala Lumpur, without the luxuries, you just see people on the street, small stores, restaurants, etc...very local...non touristy scene, for a different perspective. Also, visit Mederka square, so you can see where the British lived, and also you can take a look at the former Petronas Building (before the twin towers were built) The local transport in KL is very good, with the monorail, the trains, the buses, you should have no problem getting around.

Perfect location, accessible to any main shopping center eg Starhill, Lot 10, Sungai Wang Plaza, PP plaza. It's just 5 mins walking distance to the Monorail station. Nightlife is very happening around the hotel. Many foot massage services operate until late night.

Getting around KL is basically via taxi since I am here only for the weekend. Never take taxis who are waiting around for they charge fixed price instead of meter based. Basically Puduraya bus terminal, Chinatown are places where these cabbies hang out, so you should walk out to the main street to hail a cab. Food is great for I ate ard Jln alor area, the street I guess in front of Hotel Nova, lots of variety, tasty, and cheap. Think these are better than going inside the restaurant located along the same street, which I ate once before and don't find them as great. Can also go to Chinatown where again you will find streetside hawkers where throngs of people eat there. Would not say so for the restaurants there, since they are relatively more expensive I guess. After which I proceeded to have a good foot massage located on 2nd floor of Swiss Inn hotel where a 40min foot masage cost only 30 RM. Additional RM10 for10 min of back massage if you like, and ear candling too if you prefer at the cost of RM40-50.
In case you should reach KL in the wee hours like I did, and your hotel check in is only after 2pm, do proceed to Ancasa hotel near pudu terminal and ask if they have vacancy for day rate, RM 50 only, or take a cab to season view at Bukit Bintang to check the same.

Just across the street is the railway station to take you to all points of interest. A five minutes walk and you are at KLCC Petronas Towers and shopping center. Close to the railway station is Hard Rock Cafe KL with great staff and good food (happy hour from 7 to 9 pm moderate beer).

All aspects of KL are interesting, diverse cultures and food.
KL is easy to get around via light rail, taxi, bus and walking.
Malaysia represents good value for your money and a lot can be gained by visiting this country.

KL is a very clean city. A mix of Malay, Indian, and Chinese. Don't miss the Golden Triangle, KL tower, Petronas Towers. You need a pre-paid taxi coupon at the airport if you are taking a taxi into the city. You buy it just before exiting the terminal. They will get you either a premium taxi (Mercedes) for 92R (24USD) or standard car for around 65R. If you don't specify, they will charge you for a premium taxi. The airport is 45min to the city.

The hotel was great in recommending restaurants. Every restaurant they recommened we loved, Thai Food, Italian, Malaysian we tried it all , everything was delicious as well as a nice location. I wanted a private quide for the three of us and they had a name of someone that was great. He worked out to be just as much as a normal tour would cost for the three of us but we had our own private car and driver. We went on the jungle walk, enjoyed. A day in Malacca and enjoyed. Taxi was our main form of transportation, reasonable. We did take their transit system and it was easy. Enjoyed!

It's not true that Bintang Walk has lots of pubs, we could not even find more than 1 pub along the whole stretch of Jalan Bukit Bintang. In the end, we went to an Irish pub along Jalan Sultan Ismail (near Bintang Monorail station)
We did a lot of walking and commuted by monorail throughout our trip, which is pretty good, gave us a chance to explore the city on our own.
One point to take note of is the bad traffic is KL, the drivers do not abide by the rules of the traffic light!

For someone who loves the nature, and just has 5 or 6 days or even less to spend in West Malaysia, I would highly recommend you to my favourite destination - Cameron Highland. It is like 5 hours from Kuala Lumpur. Here you would find the tranquility of the mountain, esacape from the heat of the city. Spare yourself, at least, two days at Cameron Highland, join the must go half day tour to tea plantation farm. Here you would see the most lovely and spectacular view of little green lot of tea farm, spreading all over the valleys ranging from one valley to another. Transportation - better to take the espress bus from Puduraya bus station in the early morning. After 5 hours of journey, you arrive Cameron Highland at around 1 or 2 pm. Registerd for a half day or whole day tour. Just relaxed yourself for the rest of the day. On day 2, begin with the tour and enjoy mother nature with experience local guide. If you are taking the half day tour, you would be able to catch the 1:30pm bus back to Kuala Lumpur and save some time!
Accommodation - for the moderate price places to stay (around US35/nite) at Tapah Rata should be fine. Everything will be in walking distance. Food - the most popular to have at the highland is "steamboat", opened by the local chinese who lived there for 20 years. You just plan less than US3 for a "all-u-can-eat" steamboat buffet at any chinese restaurant. Enjoy the food and a beer on hand is the best thing you could never have in Cameron Highland.
Last but not least - I lost my backpack during my coach transfer from Tapah Rata (Cameron Highland) back to Kuala Lumpur. I was aware of this until I arrived KL which was 730pm in the evening already. I was in panic and the only thing I had was the coach ticket which got the address of the bus company. So I ran to the bus company under heavy rainfall, and asked for help. The lady there was so friendly, asked me to calm down and told me that they already got a phone call from the transfer station, knowing I had left my luggage. And they had arranged the next bus to bring the luggage back to me. During my wait for the next bus to come, which was 2 1/2 hours, though tired and hungry, the lady offered a chair for me which was the best comfort I can have. By 10pm, the bus finally arrived and the bus driver saw a frightened me rightaway. It was good to have my luggage back, really. Many thanks to all the people who had given me a hand during the journey in Malaysia! Terima Kesih!

The hotel is within walking distance to Chow Kit Monorail Station. This is great for guests visiting Bukit Bintang area. However, to get to the KL city center, you have to go by other mode of transport, unless you take the Monorail to its terminal at Titiwangsa and change over to Starline, another LRT network system.
