Enjoyed cable car and area; Underwater World - very good aquarium etc..average snorkeling facilities. Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah are good walking beached. Best restaurant on Pantai Cenang: Beach Garden Hotel and Resort (best value for money); Casa del Mar is great but more expensive. Several smaller places on Pantai Cenang for happy hour, shopping for souvenirs etc.. I live in KL and visit Langkawi on average every three months.

I would recommend the Lighthouse restaurant. Excellent food and lovely location. We hired a car for a day and this was plenty of time for us to see the island. We would recommend the cable car ride but be warned - it is very high!

Stayed at Pelangi Beach & Spa Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.

Relaxed solely on Pentai Cenang didn't feel need to venture beyond.
Restaurants:
Laman Rai (opposite to hotel in Rice paddy museum) - beautiful sea food.
Mathuri Village (avoid the sun village grill next door which is part of same place).
Souvenir shopping in the Sun Village store next door on Pentai Cenang.
I would definitely recommend the Indian Ayurvedic Full Body Massage opposite the Casa Del Mar (next door to Pelangi) - an unbelievable experience.
Avoid Kuah - nothing to see. Night market hugely overrated, gold shopping a waste of time. Duty free shopping only good for booze & cigarettes.

Langkawi island is a great destination for a relaxing beach holiday. The local seafood is amazing and cheap. Yong Leong Restaurant in Kwah town has amazing food, along with the experience of eating with the locals. If you want a really romantic experience that will cost you a lot more, go to Bon Ton Restaurant at sunset...the food and cocktails are spectacular!

Recommend Flour Power - a little cafe on the road leading to Pantai Tengah. You can relax with the papers while eating cake, sandwiches and salads all freshly prepared for you.

Langkawi is a beautiful island, giving great views when arriving or departing by air. The sea is a beautiful blue with these richly forested little islands lying here and there. Having lunch at the Yacht Club is a must-do. Good pricing, great food, lovely view.

Rent your own car to get around the island. It's easy to get around and a better deal for your money. The Barn Thai restaurant is wonderful if you have the time. The Beach Garden Resort has great food and large servings too!

Langkawi is essentially relaxing by the beach.
The rest of the attractions are quite average. Highly recommended is the Orkid Ria seafood restaurant - one could return a few times to work through the menu!

The area is one of the best, because there are several restaurants outside, at the Tengah beach and also at the Cengah Beach, you can rent bikes and motorbikes everywhere outside for cheap price (motorbike for 25 RM/day at the AB Motel, bikes 15 RM/day). The restaurants in this area are nearly cheap and you can choose between all of the asian restaurants. The Sunflower restaurant outside of the Langkawi Village restaurant has a good malaysian kitchen!
