Do not miss the Fish restaurant at the Fish Market on the waterfront next to the filipino market. Go to the Restoran Sri Delima and Halal Restaurant. If you are not staying at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort you should try its cusine! Sea or wildlife adventures are worthwile but climbing Mt Kinabalu is something to do. Use taxi.

Visit SB Plaza for dinner, good cheap local food and entertainment. Also go white water rafting with Riverbug!!

We took the 4hour North Borneo Railway train ride into the heartlands & what made it more special was the interaction with the other passengers from all over the world. The seafood eatery at Tg Aru beachfront was superb & reasonably priced.

Kota Kinabalu is not an exceptionally interesting city, although you can find some things are very cheap. If you like seafood (and you like to see your food beforehand!), try the Ocean Seafood Restaurant - not especially cheap by Malaysian standards but very nice. Also, take a trip to Sandakan to see the orang utans, although even better than this in my opinion is the Mangrove Forest trip by boat where you see proboscis monkeys in the wild. Whether you want a relaxing time or eventful time there are plenty of good trips from the resort

The Italian restaurant Peppino's is well worth the experience. As far as activities, not much to do if you have a young family, better suited to older children.

Kota Kinabalu has lots of great cheap eats. I recommend Jothy's Fish Head Indian Cafe at the Api Api centre.

The Jothy Banana Leaf indian restaurant was nice if you like Indian food and very reasonably priced.

Our family had a short, but relaxing and fun-filled holiday in your hotel. Our 8-year-old son was delighted to meet our neighbours who live in the Nature Reserve --- the orang utangs. He was impressed by the way they were taken care of, but still living in the wild life. He misses them very much. We admire your hotel's determination in reserving the nature. Other than trekking in the rain forest, we had a wonderful time on the beach as well: digging crabs, riding horses and doing water sports... or simply doing nothing but basking under the palm trees. When the boys are racing in the swimming pool, I took the chance to get my sore muscles relaxed ---by a masseuse in the hotel spa, and to get my manicure and pedicure done. When I woke up, I felt totally refreshened and revitalized. The restaurants will be one of the reasons that we are going back again: your Italian restaurant serves delicous pizza and seafood. We particulary remember the evening we spent at 'Coast'--- stunning ocean front view, post modern decor, nice music, and of course, the fusion dishes prepared by chef from New Zealand forced me to forget about my weight-watching-diet for one evening. I have to say, that evening wraps up our trip in a chic style.
