We had one night in the Cameroon Highlands so couldn't take full advantage of the walks etc.
One of the tea plantations 10 mins north of the Lakehouse is well worth a visit.

The journey to Cameron Highland is worth travelling, the weather is perfect. The steamboat is full of free and fresh vegetables and cost only RM12 per pax. I bought lots of cheap roses, plants, fruits and vegetables where you can find along the way at Brinchang and higher.

The Old Smokehouse is a really charming restaurant... the place is reminiscent of a old english town...beautiful and peaceful...the meals were a little on the high side but well worth a visit.

The Cameron Highlands are very picturesque and would definitely recommend a visit (unless you don't like BIG beetles !). We definitely needed a car for both sightseeing and to be able to visit the main town - Tanah Rata. We visited a tea plantation and although they were almost closing, they still gave us a tour around the factory. Most of the restaurants in the main town seem to offer much the same and are great value for money.

Great for a few days break, did a couple of hikes, wandered the towns and enjoyed visits to the various farms. Excellent curry for dinner at Shal's Curry House, which had a menu extensive enough to suit kids too. After Singapore and KL, the cooler temperature came as a welcome break.

Even though the lakehouse is a bit far from the main town of Tanah Rata about 10km but it is still within the reach of those who have their own transportation which is about 15min by car.The nearrest town is Ringlet that is about 4km away. You can still enjoy going around Cameron Highland using the public transportation and the lakehouse management staff will always be there to assist you.As for food,if you feel like dinning at a fabulous Lord of The Ring kind of place, lakehouse offers you the right restaurant to dine in.

no "fine" restaurants to speak of. Smokehouse is supposed to be one of the best Western restaurants, we found the quality of the food to be mediocre. Our best meal was at Suria, an Indian in Tanah Ratah.

The tea plantations are very scenic, especially early in the morning. The perfect place to enjoy a cup of tea and a scone or the local curry puff. It is very convenient to get around if you drive. Alternatively, you may hire a local taxi to get around for RM18 per hour.
