For UK travellers particularly, we often miss Indian food when abroad!! I recommend Gaylords Restaurant in Kowloon.

The Airport Express has got to be the easiest way to get into the city. It gives some great views and takes about 15-20 minutes to get to HK island. If you get the chance definately definately definately ride the trolly cars. You get a great view of the city like you do out of the busses, but you have more time to observe and experience the city. And the fact that it's only $2HKD is nice. Just make sure you enter in the back and pay once you get OFF at the front of the trolly car.
Lesson learned from personal experience. We watched a movie in the Times Square area, it was in English with Chinese subtitles and provides a great way to escape the heat and kill some time if you don't know what to do. Make sure that if you're watching an early movie, don't pick a seat in the middle (they are pre-assigned) take one off to the side. There is no stadium seating and you won't have to compete with peoples heads to see the movie.
And for those of you looking for a good Dim Sum restaurant, they are not on ground level, so if you're feeling brave, try walking up some staircases if you see what looks to be a restaurant on the second or third level of a building. With over 6000 of them in HK alone, you're bound to find at least ONE doing this.

Take the Airport Express from and to the airport. Especially for 1/2 travellers HKD180 for return fare. Airport to Hong Kong in 23 minutes flat. Could a taxi get you there that fast?
Ocean Park is a "must see". Set aside at least 4 hours for the visit. Got some good silk neckties at Stanley market. Use the public transport (buses and trains) as far as possible. Available at short intevals, quick to destinations and air-conditioned. No need to splurge on taxis.
"Lord Stanley at the Curry Pot" behind Stanley Market and "Bombay Dreams" at Windham Road can be tried if you are partial to Indian food.
Shopping at Watsons and Wellcome stores recommended - Variety under one roof, if you're pressed for time.

Hong Kong has anything and everything. My personal recommendations as a single guy usually traveling alone is either Wan Chai or Lan Kwai Fong. When in Wan Chai make sure you find both 'Neptune II' and 'Dusk till Dawn'. The best Thai food outside of Thailand can also be found in Wan Chai - it is called Family Thai and is diagonally across the street from the Wharney next to Chili Thai.

Public transport in Hong Kong is excellent, very cheap and buses are every few minutes. Ferries also excellent value. Places to visit: Macau, Lantau, Lamma and Chung Chau, Stanely Market, Cat Street. We ate at the Bohemian Lounge, Old Bailey Street, one night (live jazz and a 4 course meal for 220 HK dollars - excellent). Nepal on Staunton street also very good. We also went to Life (off the escalator) lovely vegetarian food, but expensive and not brilliant service.

Good choice of restaurants & bars in the Mid Levels area, just down from the Bishop Lei (Nepal & Jaspers & Peak Cafe for example).
Close to Lan Kwai Fong for nightlife and bars.
Close to Central for shopping and MTR link!

Hong Kong - The Japanese restaurant at the Royal Garden Hotel in TST East is a sheer delight. The managers Larry and Gary and will make you feel right at home and provide an entertaining evening. Please say "hello" and "mama mia" for me when you are there!

Hong Kong is an exciting city to visit with lots of things to see, shopping you can't beat and restaurants to meet every taste. The MTR and the bus service was easy to use and when in doubt jump in a taxi. The horse races at Happy Valley were a great experience - The CAFE DECO at the peak was a great place to end the day with a great meal and a fantastic view. The ride up in the tram was worth it alone. Take the number 6 bus to Stanley - ride upstairs at the front. Great views and a thrill of a ride for a couple of dollars. Eat at EI CID CARMAR - a spanish restaurant in Murray House. The shopping in the market is fun with some great bargains.
