My wife and I just got back from a rather exhausting trip to Guangzhou and needed some R&R time before heading back home. We tucked ourselves in at the Marco Polo Gateway and enjoyed every moment of it. Tsim Sha Shui is every bit a walkers paradise - one can spend hours shopping or simply taking in the feel of thousands of people on the streets.
We would reccomend Fat Angelos for Italian food - the ambience is excellent and the portions huge. Stop by your nearest Pacific Coffee for great Java and sinfully good Croissants.
Shopping takes it toll- so if you need an extra large bag, try the by-lanes near the Hyatt. We bought two titanic suitcases for about 400 HKD - roughly 60 US - a steal by any standards.
Don't miss the Esprit Factory Outlet near the Kowloon Hotel- two floors of great bargain shopping for clothes.
If you're in the mood for travelling within HK, use the MTR - HK's subway. It's the fastest, cheapest way of getting around town.
Try tube-hopping -getting off at stations at random to explore areas less travelled. You could end up coming away from HK with an entirely different set of memories!
Happy Travelling!

In the hotel, would recommend Portal-Work & Play which combines business center, music lounge, seafood counter and internet cafe all tastefully wrapped in one location. In Langham shopping mall, Guangzhou Gardens is a good dining spot for Chinese food with good presentation. Nearby Harmony Bistro in Le Gourmet Grand Tower is very affordable and good.

Enjoyed a delicious dinner at the "Dynasty" restaurant at the New World Renaissance Hotel. Otherwise, explored Hong Kong on our own and found the city easy to navigate and the wonderful free parks a respite from the busy metropolitan life. Would love to come back again to Hong Kong.

As a former hong kong resident I visited my favorits spots: oliver's deli counter in the prince's blg (central) and the banana leaf curry house in causeway bay (jaffe road) for lunch. There is a small "prizemart" store in the alleyway close to the "mc'ds" on queens road central. if you are itching for some american brand treats, it is a great little place to visit. A fraction of the cost of similar items in Beijing!!

All public transport excellent and cheap. Hong Kong Tourist Board at Starr Ferry provides bus timetables and maps. Can recommend the restaurant next door to the Curry A La King on the way to Nathan Rd (name translates to Baked Shrimp Head!! ) not far from hotel heading towards Nathan Rd. Shamrock Hotel on Nathan Rd, has Chinese buffet for $50HK (Approx $10 Australian). Highly recommend Stanley for sightseeing and markets, The Land Between Tour booked through HK /tourist Board, Macau day trip, tram ride $2HK when you alight (on HK Island) The PEAK ON A CLEAR DAY. Stanford is close to Delifrance, Pizza Hut, Spaghetti House (great value), Wellcome supermarket downstairs near Pizza Hut. Avoid Hong Kong island on public holidays and Sundays, although the Phillipo's gatherings are a sight to be seen. Highly recommend the high speed train service/taxi to hotel on arrival and the hotel free shuttle bus then train back to airport. Train takes 23minutes with a minimum of fuss. Our entire 14 days was a minimum of fuss. Plenty to see and do.

We've been in Hong Kong a lot of times but basically for the shopping. This time around we hit the place for its culinary attractions and we surely were not disappointed. We got great help though from the Lonely Planet guide. A visit to Macau should also be done if you are in the area. And when you are there, you shouldn't miss Fernandos - an amazing Portugese restaurant on Caluan island some 30 minutes by bus from Macau proper. Just when we thought Hong Kong and Macau were best for shopping, the great restaurants is an even better reason to visit again.

Getting around in HK is always easiest and most reliable with the MTR - traffic can be unpredictable. Prepare, however, for walking quite long distances below ground until you reach the exit of the MTR station or the trains.
There are plenty of good restaurants around however, I would like to mention the 'Beirut' in Lan Kwai Fong as a great place for dinner since the ambience and food are fantastic.

In addition to the concert which we played, we were able to see a number of sights and visit some very good restaurants. We ate at the Shalom Grill which is kosher Israeli cuisine and found it excellent. We also chose two Thai places as this is our favourite cuisine - Thai In Restaurant and also Cafe Siam. We visited several Buddhist Temples, the Night Market, the Stanley Market in Kowloon and took the Peak Tour. A most interesting, unusual and amusing experience was at the Balalaika Restaurant. They have a Refrigerator Room for vodka tasting. Each diner is given a fur robe and then we stood in this very cold refrigerator room and sipped vodka. Coming from the UK where all beverages including vodka are drunk at room temperature, we found this a very novel experience.

Places worth visiting include Hollywood Rd (for some window shopping and antique buying), the area known as SOHO (restaurants and bars) and the new IFC complex (check out the trendy bar/restaurant Isola and have a drink on the outdoor terrace).
