Not a tremendous amount to do on Langkawi. Beautiful scenery, a couple of nice golf courses including the Datai Bay, and water sports. Thai Barn restaurant located in the mangroves is worth a trip.

The hotel is situated on a lovely beach side, but quite far away from the shopping town, Kuah. Outside the hotel, you can have Chinese, seafood, Malay cuisines and others. Just adjacent to the hotel is a good looking restaurant called Sunvillage, which has one seafood and one Malay restaurant. The price is a bit high but if you like to eat in good atmosphere, try it.
We have been to the marine park, Palau Payer, but worse than I expected. Changing room is dark and no hangers or shelves to hold things. No shower facilities or only little water comes out. Toilet lights are all out.
But the beach has a lot of fish and baby sharks although the beachfront is quite small. You can feed the fish with bread or your own fingers!
I also have dived not far away from the beach. Not much nice things to see. Very few beautiful corals or fish. A sand base without reef. Very disappointed. Bohol and Cebu in the Phillipines of the same depth are much nicer.

The island is good for relaxation and water sports but lacks night life and younger adults could find it boring. We found it good for eating out and golf. It is refreshing to go to a resort that has not been spoilt by commercialism

Langkawi is a clean and pleasant place but is not for those who like to stay up into the small hours.

Taxis are the only way to get around on Langkawi. They are cheap and barginable though. Right across the road from the hotel is a brand new snake sanctuary that was not only informative but a lot of fun to visit. You can even see people kiss the head of a common cobra.

Langkawi is beautiful and unexploited (we really hope that it will not be destroyed by more hotels and tourist attractions)! The charm of the island is that it seems so undestroyed.
There are three golfcourses. We played one of them. Datai is the best course and absolutely comparable to other first class golf courses. The other two courses need enhancement but are satisfying if your expectations with regard to qualities of the greens etc are not too high.
We went around the island by own car and visited the glass factory (were we actually bought some small and beautiful flacons). We visited the Mangrove restaurant. I am sure this reataurant could be recommended for dinner (however, it was neither lunch nor dinner time when we were there). The walk through the mangrove field was an experience.
We made an island-hopping-tour. It was arranged by the hotel and included pick-up at the hotel and a great boat trip visiting three different islands. Our stay at kpmpung Tok was four nights. We had all breakfasts and two dinners at our hotel (besides snacks and drinks at the pool). Other luncheons and dinners we had at some of the other hotels. We had only good experiences regarding food and service.

Langkawi is a beautiful place to visit. We were there for the Ironman Malaysia and the whole race course was superb. We visited the usual tourist spots such as as the Underwater World, the Waterfalls, the Craft Museum and the Galerie Museum, which were all great. We discovered a good restaurant called Dominos which catered more to the Western taste.

Langkawi is a great place. 4-6 days is plenty of time to spend there. Not much to do outside of relaxing in the sun.
