S Codrington 05 June 2005
Stayed at  Broadway Mansions Shanghai - Shanghai, China.
Having been to Shanghai many times over the past 23 years, I have always regarded the Shanghai Acrobats as the best in China. I went to their performance again on this trip but was profoundly disappointed. The show has lost its tradition and charm, and it is now a sound-and-lights extravaganza for Western audiences. The quality of the acrobatics has plummeted amidst all the glitz. Furthermore, having paid extra for "A" class seats, I was disappointed to find myself in the third back row of the theatre. Fortunately, I have many happy memories of the Shanghai acrobats in their heyday.

V Musumeci 17 March 2005
Stayed at  Lu Song Yuan Hotel - Beijing, China.
Check out the Houhai lake area for some cool bars and restaurants. It is about a 15min walk from the hotel and staff will be more than happy to help with directions.

D Devlin 02 March 2005
Stayed at  Radisson Plaza Xing Guo - Shanghai, China.
Always visit the Face bar in the Rui Jin Bing Guan off of Mao Ming Lu while in Shanghai.

C Pawley 09 January 2005
Stayed at  Prime Hotel Beijing - Beijing, China.
We visited The Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Great Wall, Ming Tombs and The Summer Palace. All were very impressive. Try and see an Acrobats Show but get the cheap tickets, as generally no difference in the view.

F Mah 05 January 2005
Stayed at  Paradise Hill Hotel Zhuhai - Zhuhai, China.
From the local bus stop outside hotel, you can take bus to The New Yuan Ming Palace, a rare imitation of an ancient tourism attraction, with free performances (included in admission price) starting at 11 am to 5 pm. Don't miss the 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm show called "Grand Qing Dynasty". It's free if you sit in the second section (too far back to see) and cost about 20 RMB to sit in front section for better view & its worth it for the small extra cost.

S Lim 18 December 2004
Stayed at  Broadway Mansions Shanghai - Shanghai, China.
Transport by taxi is easily available. A trip from Hotel to NanJing East Pedestrian street is at RMB 10 the flag down rate. A trip to Shanghai Zoo cost RMB45. See panda bear, vultures, tiger, lion, penguin and many other animals and birds that children will enjoy. Visit Shanghai Scientific and Technology Museum for family with children. They will love it for a day of fun with the interactive display.

W Martens 07 October 2004
Stayed at  Zhao An Hotel - Shanghai, China.
The Shanghai museum is, without doubt, the best in China. Shanghai itself was billed as the world's "most happening" city in a recent TIME magazine article and I couldn't agree more. The mix of "old" and "new" is absolutely fascinating. What a great city! Try the House of Blues and Jazz; a terrific Danish jazz group is there until 12/12/04.

K Peterson 11 September 2004
Stayed at  Hong Kong Plaza Service Apartment Shanghai - Shanghai, China.
Try Green Massage, Spice Market, XinTianDi and others all within an easy walk of 5 minutes or less. Take the subway line #2 three (3) stops to Heng Sheng Lu Station (not sure on the spelling). Many great restaurant and bars. Also try the bars and jazz clubs on Maoming Lu near Ruijin Hotel.

B Jones 10 September 2004
Stayed at  Pudong Shangri-La, Shanghai - Shanghai, China.
The complex of restaurants and bars near the hotel and near the radio tower has been demolished, which is a shame. However, the mall adjacent to the hotel has a food court (5th floor) which is pretty comprehensive. Also, there's a Paulaners across the street.

V Hanna 17 August 2004
Stayed at  Peninsula Palace Hotel - Beijing, China.
Great Wall, Temple of Heave, Forbidden City, Tianamen Square, Ming Tombs are all worth visiting. Try to catch the National Acrobatic team in Reverie at the Heaven and Earth Theatre.
