Stayed at  Bintang Warisan Hotel - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
For those looking for an excellent location of a hotel, Bintang Warisan is the answer. Major shopping malls are at the door steps...Times Square is less than 10 minutes away should you decide to catch a midnight movie like I did. Overall, I'm really satisfied with my stay at the hotel and will patronize the hotel again in the near future.

Well placed for KLCC and LRT but not so convenient for Bukit Bintang area. KLCC great if you like shopping malls, but there are plenty more to choose from. In the evening Hard Rock Cafe still buzzing and liked ambience of Q-bar at Westin. Beach bar heaving but too young a crowd for my taste. Bangsa didn't seem as lively as a couple of years ago.

Moving around Malacca is rather easy, lest the occassional traffic jam. The pace of the city is very wonderful and makes you want to come back sooner than later. My family and I enjoyed every trip to Malacca, which we tried to make it a point to visit 4 times or more a year. Jonker Street is a must visit over the weekends, especially in the night where you get to see night stalls and street performance. My children loved the performance and always fascinated by the 'fire eating', coconut piercing performance.

Langkawi and Pentai Cenang are very relaxing and quite laid back. There are sites to see but if you just want to laze and chill out that's fine too. A trip on the cable car is hair-raising but worth the visit. A visit to the seven wells requires a bit of walking and quite strenuous in the heat. We visited many restuarants, The Lighthouse and Bon-Ton slightly more expensive but both in beautiful settings especially the Bon-Ton! Narelle at the Bon-Ton invited us as day visitors to spend some time at the resort and use its facilities. Wonderful frozen cocktails and the best dessert (chocolate tort with tiramsu ) I have ever tasted!!! Please visit and say hello from Bill and Ed (the 2 Irish guys) to Uma and Theo at "Chompa Chompa" pub and restaurant. She is a wonderful, delightfully eccentric Tamil woman who will immediately make you feel welcome. She is also a great cook! Theo, also very welcoming serves a mean drink as many of our late nights can testify! Food and drink very reasonable. Also visit Debbie's Irish Pub next to Chompa Chompa. A bit of a misnomer as there is nothing to suggest an Irish pub and only qualifies as Debbie's husband is Irish. She too will make you feel most welcome.

Stayed at  Royale Bintang, The - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It's not true that Bintang Walk has lots of pubs, we could not even find more than 1 pub along the whole stretch of Jalan Bukit Bintang. In the end, we went to an Irish pub along Jalan Sultan Ismail (near Bintang Monorail station) We did a lot of walking and commuted by monorail throughout our trip, which is pretty good, gave us a chance to explore the city on our own. One point to take note of is the bad traffic is KL, the drivers do not abide by the rules of the traffic light!

Chinatown: Had our dinner at the roadside stall along Jln Sultan, which is much cheaper compared to those seafood restaurants, whose staff is always asking us to patronise them whenever we walked pass. Zouk: Sort of a more high-class pub & disco in town, the way the people dress more formal, the feeling is a bit different as compared to S'pore (also visited another disco that plays mostly chinese pops, but the tremble & high bass of the music makes us stay only for awhile). One-Utama: A huge shopping complex at Damansara, about RM10 from KL by taxi. Jln Bukit Bintang: One bak kuk teh restaurant along the main street (opposite the Federal Hotel) sells very nice dishes, definitely worth the money. The Mall: A fairly older shopping complex compared to others in town, but its close proximity to our hotel makes us visit more than once.

KL is not really a place to sightsee. But is is a place to shop and eat. In a short weekend trip, would recommend a walk through the main shops in bukit bintang. For food, one of my favourite places is the Overseas Chinese restaurant at Jalan Imbi, which has the best roast pork. Their prawns in sweet black sauce is also to die for. (Note - if you're going to eat there, do call and reserve a table in advance together with a portion of the roast pork as it sells out fast). On this last trip i also found a little cafe in the first floor of Sungei Wang shopping centre, where the local designer shops are, which had the most sinful and largest chocolate banana cake I've ever seen. On Sat night paid a visit to Zouk. Was very impressed overall with the interior and the music but was very surprised that it was very empty even by around 12pm. Perhaps the crowd comes along later but we didn't stay long enough to find out.

Stayed at  Cititel Penang - Penang, Malaysia.
We only stayed one night but location was good and close to some british bars which was handy and also short walk to china town and also Komtar which is a large super mall with everything you would want to find in there.

Stayed at  Langkawi Village Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.
Langkawi is a great island and it is very cheap to hire a car or moped for the day and explore. The roads are very quiet so it is very easy to get around. Places I would recommend to see is the cable car which is very high but you get fantastic views. There are a few shops and coffee shops there too. The waterfalls are worth a visit but they are not really in full flow during dry season. Underwater world is also excellent place and there is also duty free shopping right next door. Another good duty free shopping place is in Kuah with shops there that sell lots of souveniers. There are lots of beach/sea activities in Langkawi with jet skiing, paragliding etc.

There are lots of restaurants to visit I would recommend The Lighthouse and The Beach Garden Resort where you can either have your dinner sitting out on the beach or inside. another good place is The Matahari. They all do a great choice of Asian and Western food but the Lighthouse is my very favourite place. There is also a good choice of local food stalls which are cheaper but they also have excellent food. A great place to drink and stay out until the early hours is Champor Champor. The Coco Jam Nightclub is another lively place which is at Langkawi Village Resort. It doesn't really get going though until after 1am!! Langkawi is also a fantastic place to just switch off, relax and do nothing at all but soak up the sun, laze on the beach and have a dip in the sea. Its fantastic!!

Visited KL many times and never tire of it. Try and get up to the skybridge at Petronas towers (go early for ticket) and eat in restaurant up the KL tower. Stunning view. Also visit Bangsar area for good bars and restaurants. Beware taxi drivers who don't switch on meter and then ask you for crazy figure. Tell them to switch on meter or agree a price before starting.
