It is better to get the locations where you need to visit to be written in Chinese to show it to Taxi drivers or for that matter anyone you would ask for directions. Also get China mobile sim card it is handy and cheap while travelling on business.

Credit card is not popular in Hainan island. You have to bring enough cash. They do not accept credit card. Visitors have to pay for entrance fee for all the sight seeing places. It costs $60-&100Yen. You can not cover all the places if you do not carry enough cash as you have to pay entrance fee before you can visit the places. Too bad!

Unfortunately I was only in Shanhai for 1 night before heading back home - I did not really have time to visit any places. On previous trips to Shanghai though I have been to the art and history museum which is excellent. My favorite pastime though is to just wander the streets and meet and talk with people. Also, if you plan on going to an internet cafe, always much less expensive than the hotel business centers, be sure to bring an ID with a picture.

Stayed at Sofitel Jin Jiang Oriental Pudong Shanghai - Shanghai, China.

the area is good for business , but not for entertainment. If you stay in Pudong, the exciting area is around the Hyatt and the Shangri-la, many nice restaurants and bars and only 5 min. away by taxi
