D Croft 08 March 2003
Stayed at  Empire Hotel Kowloon - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
We booked onto the HK and the New Territories tour, which was excellent! History and amazing sights, particularly the Chinesse Buddhist temple, the Chinese border (buy the postcards from the old ladies at the viewpoint, for a reflective view of what it was like a few years before! Hilarious!) and the Banyan tree - make a wish!!

R Allen 07 March 2003
Stayed at  New World Renaissance - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Since this was not my first visit to Hong Kong it was easier to get around and enjoy the sights on our own. I would recommend the 1/2 day tour for first timers though! The metro and bus system is user friendly and the hotel will give guests a good map to help navigate your activities.

J Mills 04 March 2003
Stayed at  Eaton Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
We went on a tour with a company called 'splendid tours.' The tour guide was outstanding with the amount of knowledge of Hong Kong. She was very funny and kept us all entertained, which was great considering we were suffering from jet lag!

TSIM SHA SUI in Kowloon is very covenient to any major shopping areas and attractions. Tours are very expensive, but it is very easy to find your way round the town using the map. If you are staying for 3 days or more, buy a Octopus travel card, it will keep the cost of using public transport down.

Everyone speaks English, so you don't have any problem with the language. The HK international airport is very expensive, so if see anything in town and you like, you'd better of buying it there, and save some money.

The are free shuttles between some major hotels and airport express trains, which makes the journey to the airport very easy and cheap. You can check-in your bags at the train station, and they will transfer it to your flight. Don't miss the Peak Tram, which takes you to the highest point, and you can enjoy fantastic view of the town in the evening. There are few good restaurants and shopping mall up there as well, so allow 3-4 hours of your time. Hong Kong is a great place to visit, and shop till you drop....

J Morrow 28 February 2003
Stayed at  Metropark Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
We went to the horse racing at Sha Tin which was a fantastic say out - it was only £4 entrance to the members enclosure & they were so helpful. The "Peak Lookout" restaurant at Victoria Peak was fabulous. Macau was not really worth a visit but Lantau island was great - excellent restaurants & great for a quiet evening away from the hubbub of Hong Kong, not a skyscraper in sight. Temple Street market was great for fake designer handbags.

P Harris 27 February 2003
Stayed at  Wesley, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Visited Stanley and all of Wanchai, Central and Causeway Bay. Went to Happy Valley races.

J Robinson 27 February 2003
Stayed at  Wharney Guang Dong Hotel Hong Kong, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
I went hill walking on the Hong Kong trail; marvelous countryside and views. Recommend to anyone who is reasonably fit.

Stayed at  Wharney Guang Dong Hotel Hong Kong, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong deserves its name: The City of Life; first you should walk down the city, take the tram to the Victoria Peak (be sure to have good weather to pick excellent views), visit Aberdeen & Jumbo floating restaurant, take a late evening walk through Temple Street Night Market in Kowloon (BTW - it is a very safe city).

Next day get up early :) and go to the nearest park to watch Tai Chi practitioners and their "shadow-boxing". Then take a day off Hong Kong and visit Macau, convenient connection via ferry or helicopter, if you are really filthy rich :)

A Moore-stow 20 February 2003
Stayed at  Excelsior, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Two tours taken, both good value for money. The night out at the races was excellent value for money and throughly enjoyable - even for someone who does not like horse racing!

A Walters 17 February 2003
Stayed at  Emperor, The - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
If you do nothing else whilst in Honk Kong you MUST put aside a day to just travel by tram. Get on and off as you wish and SEE the places the guides do not visit, you'll not regret it.
