Victoria peak has some spectacular views and I highly recommend the Lantau island tour to see the fishing village and the Big Buddha.

HK is made for the gourmet traveller. All we did was walk around under the neon lights hiding from the rain and eat. We visited Victoria Peak, but if it's raining the view is somewhat less. Better to catch the harbour night pics from Kowloon. Also we rode a tram from end to end to really get a feel for the city, and we ended up getting lost and finding ourselves in a reflexology massage parlour with much better rates than you'll find in the heavily touristed areas.

I took 2 tours Greyhound provided the tours. The guides were great. I took tours to Macao and Hong Kong Island. The location of the hotel was excellent, room was clean and the pool terrific. The location made walking to museums, Star Ferry, shopping and etc a snap. I did go the Pennsula Hotel for high tea, that was of fun.

If you are Buddhist/Taoist, this area is close to the Temple for morning prayers. Night market/Jade Market/Ladies Market/religion supplies. Many saunas. Avoid lower Nathan Street/Stanley Market. Overall quality has declined. Time to go direct into China! Clothing is best bet at low-end shops. For a few missing buttons, a leather & fur coat can be had for US$14.oo if you find it.

We only stayed one night as a stopover from our vacation in Australia. Since we didn't have much time we took the Hong Kong Island Deluxe tour from Gray Line. Highly recommended if you only have one day and want to see some of the island highlights.

Most of the time we took walking tours of the city checking out the popular places within walking distance. The octopus card was very helpful and convenient when taking the MTR. The airport train is fantastic.

Went around on ferrys, MTR and buses - all really efficient and clean. Taipan boat trip at Aberdeen with old fishing women was an experience, usual stuff like going up Victoria Peak was well work doing. Spent a lot of time walking round the various markets, parks which were all really interesting. Great view from the Sheraton bar on their top floor - but you need to get there before 8pm or there is a minimum 120 dollar/person charge.

Tips on transportation: don't use Taxis during rush hour (which seems to be most of the day), you'll be faster with MTR/ferry/tram.
Workout: in addition to the fitness room at the hotel, there is a public, olympic size swimming pool behind the hotel on Morrison hill, a few minutes walk.
