This was a pretty disastrous experience. We has a confirmed booking for the Muang Kulaypan Hotel from 11th to 20th August. On arrival there we were told that due an error on the agent's part, the booking had actually been made with the hotel for December rather than August 2005. The hotel was fully booked, so we were only able to spend 1 night there, and the following day had to transfer to an inferior hotel several miles out of town (it was a holiday weekend) and on the 15th transfer back to the original hotel. During the 5-night stay there, we had to move rooms due to previous bookings. So we had to pack and move 3 times because of the error, which was a major inconvenience, as well as spending a lot of time on the phone trying to sort things out, in addition to having to spend 3 nights in a remote spot not of our choosing. We have received no apologies or compensation for this (only a refund reflecting the cheaper price of the other hotel).
