asia-hotels.com Appoints Don Angelico as COO
September 6th, 2000
Press Release
Hong Kong, Wednesday, September 6th, 2000: Ex-Arthur Andersen Director Don Angelico has been appointed
Chief Operating Officer of Hong Kong-based asia-hotels.com (http://www.asiahotels.com), Asias Internet
hotel guide and reservation system. Don joins asia-hotels.com after two years with Arthur Andersen where
he focussed on e-business as Director of Advanced Communications and Media Group for Asia Pacific.
I have been advising on e-business for the past two
years and I look forward to the excitement of a hands on role commented Don. I was attracted to asia-hotels.com
by the companys track record, its product which is real and not reliant on advertising, and its prominent position
in an industry that is destined to grow.
Don brings with him a wealth of operational expertise and believes the success of commercial websites today depends
on being able to provide the sound operational foundation needed to facilitate and manage growth. Don has been
integral in developing e-business initiatives for a number of large conglomerates including Hutchison Whampoa Limited,
Hong Leong Group et al.
Since its launch in June 1997, asia-hotels.com has amassed over 1,300 member hotels and resorts across Asia and
prides itself on offering value added features such as hotel reviews and travellers tales from past customers and
Asia-expert customer service. The site was co-founded by Jon Stonham, who left HKT as channel manager when he hit
upon the idea of an Asia specialist hotel booking engine and Riyaz Moorani, who was Cable & Wireless HKT's group
manager for Internet and intranet applications until April this year.
